Not sure if I would try this or not.

Movies now playing -- at the desktop
Beginning today, first-run and classic movies are available for viewing online from Movielink, a joint venture of several Hollywood studios. Skeptics are not yet convinced of consumers' appetite for online movies. [CNET News.com]

wouldn't go for me
I'd rather watch a film lying back on my couch, then I've actually got away from the desktop. if I were sitting at my desk I'd start getting edgy and wanting to hit the keyboard

not sitting at my keyboard .. but I'm sure there are lots of people (stronger than I am) who'd like to view on the desktop

Anyone running a TV card and playing DVD's on your PC? I was thinking of setting this up in the bedroom but think the picture might lag some and not quite be as clear as I have found with several DIVX movies.

I'd probably watch a movie at work once or twice... $5 is a little steep though (I know this is generally the price of a movie at blockbuster, but if I were to rent.. it would be just for the heck of it.. because I was bored at work.) Some of the titles were around $2.. maybe I'll rent True Grit tomorrow and see how it goes and report back.

I wonder if they support Macs and OS X ?

I pipe my pc direct to my tv when I'm watching anything on the pc ... most newer graphics cards can pump out svid now a days... works pretty well. Just keep the resolution down for the TV for the best picture.

I watch dvds on my pc and I also have the tv hooked up to the computer. Both work fine for me for watching movies.

As far as watching online movies, can't do that well as I still have a dial-up connection :bawling:

'll have to get my blockbuster card out of the shredder... I cut mine up into 64 separate components
and felt relieved that blockbusters don't run the taxation department

Got me a TV port on mine using WinTV. I also downloaded all of the seinfeld episodes on my HD and properly documented them all.
Makes for some entertainment when work gets boring.

But paying for movies to watch on your computer - I'd rather go get myself a movie rental and watch it on my big screen TV. Surround sound as well. I say it'll be a flop.....

seems a bit steep compared to just renting a DVD from the local video store.

I have both a WinTV card and a DVD player (with powerDVD) on this computer and use both quite often. I have an online TV Guide boomarked so I just load that into a browser and see what's on if I get some spare time. In front of me is a collection of TV shows and movies on DVD within arms reach. There's also a CD diskman connected to the Altec speakers and around 200 music cd's right in front of me.

Can you say multimedia? :D

With all that I can't imagine downloading a movie to watch.

Also for the paranoid... the terms of use allow them to modify the downloaded program on your computer at any time.
