First off, there’s a five-character domain I want, currently registered at Wild West Domains, on the “pendingDelete” status and is expecting to drop Saturday.

I know good ole’ Bob owns GoDaddy/WildWestDomains/BlueRazor. I also remember the day when you could use GoDaddy to backorder a domain also registered/dropping at GoDaddy and GoDaddy would lock anyone else out of attempting to backorder the domain. This usually gave the individually who backordered a warm-fuzzy feeling inside. Nowadays, GoDaddy doesn’t play that game and allows anyone to backorder the same domain. If multiple people backordered it then they would pass it to auction when it drops.

However… Wild West domains (the registrar of this domain) somehow still operates on the old GoDaddy backorder system, locking anyone else out of backordering if one backorders a domain…. Basically, I’ve backordered the domain I’m interested in at Wild West (through a reseller) and now it will not let anyone else attempt to backorder it on any Wild West reseller. I’ve also used GoDaddy to backorder the domain, but I’m wondering if I should use Pool/SnapNames/NameJet, etc… for the backorder. I just don't know if my GoDaddy backorder, combined with WildWest would through it into auction.

I mean, even though GoDaddy/WildWest/BlueRazor are all sister companies, wouldn’t a WildWest backorder have the upper hand on all of them?

So is wild west domains the parent company? I know it's cheesy, but did you call godaddy and ask a tech person which one takes precedence?

I don't think there is a parent company... Each company detail shows "A(n) Arizona Company" for each company description.

I would expect wildwest / godaddy backorders to have the advantage.

but, would it cost anything to backorder at snapnames and namejet if they do not grab the name for you?

did the domain go through godaddy's auction site without bids?

No auctions anywhere for it (Pool, SnapNames, NameJet), but you never know what will happen on Saturday when it drops.

I'm hoping Wild West has the advantage on this one since it is a Wild West domain and they won't allow any more backorders on the domain since I backordered it there (which is promising).

UDPATE: Domain Acquired.

Since my last post, I also backordered the domain through Pool.com ($60).

EVEN THOUGH I had backordered the domain with the original registrar (Wild West Domains) and even though Wild West only allows ONE backorder per domain... My POOL.com account was able to trump the Wild West backorder and swipe the domain.

Goes to show you... WildWestDomains provides no exclusivity to its backorders on its own domains.
