How do you go about giving Sales and Billing staff access to your business finances. What is the safest option?

There is always a risk when doing this, even with limited API access to be able to process refunds, alot of damage can be caused if they want to.

Give enough access for what they need to do.

I would say just limit it to one employee which you trust not the whole billing staff.

This depends, what type of access are you looking to give & which permissions? What system will this before?

This is why you don't hire free staff, they have nothing to loose if want to screw you over, if you are paying them they have something to loose and the risk probably drops 75%.

What happens if you need to give your Billing staff Paypal access so in the event that a transaction so happens to not show up in the billing system, they can search for the transaction ID to see if the payment was actually sent...

We only have 1 employee that has FULL access to billing, paypal etc... Thats someone we trust and everything needs to go through him first.

You simply have to make sure you trust your staff.
Most of the money side of things I take care of or our other main admin does some of the time.

My solution to this is to pipe in all the Paypal receipts into my helpdesk. That way, any payment and refund is always logged, and fully searchable.

The only people who therefore need access are going to be processing payments or refunds - which limits it :)

IIRC with paypal business accounts, you can create limited accounts that can see transactions, but not send money.

Jacob is right. Paypal has ACL based access. That's what we use to grant limited access to transactions.

Hey. I'm every interested in the Paypal IIRC or ACL. That's pretty much what I was looking for. Can someone post a link? I've searched Google but never found anything from Paypal's website.

IIRC = If I recall Correctly.

Paypal ACL is for business accounts only IIRC, upgrade to a business account and it will tell you how to setup ACL.

You have it in the Profile section. There are three columns and this feature is at the bottom in the 1st column.
