Hi WHT

As a webhost, your client asked you to restore some cPanel full backups ( these can only be done at root WHM ), then assign the new restored accounts to the clients account - Would you have a problem with this? or would you ask the client to simply extract the full backup and restore manually themselves?

Your opinions are much appreciated.

If it's a reseller account I'd certainly expect the host to do that on request. Although it's technically possible (mostly) to restore full backups manually, it's so much easier with root access that I'd be rather ticked off with any host who refused to do it for me...

Yeah, well ive down scaled a lot of my stuff - just having a reseller acc for my main sites and development sites and when required get servers. My past server setups have been too expensive. So I decided to get a reseller at hostlatch.net, i sent a support ticket in however got a fairly blatant non-helpful reply of basically " restore it yourself, the backup restoration is not available to you ". So, looks like ill be moving away - If they cannot simply move a full cpanel backup file from my account /home folder, into /home. Then open WHM, restore full cp backup - Then type in the username for the backup, press restore. DONE.

How hard is that? lol... Along with that, they dont have seperate IP's for nameservers, only one single IP along with many other security issues.

Looks like ill be moving to another host.

Along with that, they dont have seperate IP's for nameservers, only one single IPI wouldn't say that's a security issue, or even a reliability one - it's no more or less secure / reliable than using two IPs on the same server. Might cause problems with a few of the national tlds though, where they apply stricter rules.

Overall though, should you really be surprised that any reseller account offering "unmetered" everything for $5 a month comes with limited support?

Well I mean considering you are paying $5/m that single request would cost more for them to do than you are paying them. Not to mention all the other tickets that you could possibly submit that same month.

They are trying to keep their costs down, and for $5 a month, you can't expect them to go out of the way for you.

Think about it - cups of coffee at Starbucks can cost more than that, and you might have one every single day.

You need to learn to adjust your expectations based on how much you are paying. Now if you were paying something like $25/m for that same plan, you can expect something like that.
