View Full Version : Looking for Hotmail/everyone.net style script
Snowman30 11-11-2002, 11:06 AM Im wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Im looking for a POP mail script that can be customised template wise to give it the look and feel of webmail scripts such as hotmail or everyone.net.
Ive looked at emumail but its way too expensive.
Anyone have any suggestions??? PHP or perl preferably.
Squirrelmail is good as is Horde but i dont think they are templated
Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated
chrisblack 11-11-2002, 11:19 AM I assume you already have, but I will say it anyway .. have you looked at .. http://www.cgi-resources.com ?
If you want users to be able to sign up for an e-mail address in the style of Hotmail then you'll probably end up spending quite a bit. If you just want to offer a webmail service then neomail is pretty good - it's also free (or, at least it always used to be!)

Snowman30 11-11-2002, 11:27 AM I have a signup system allready and im not a fan of neomail....
What i am after i guess is a good POP mail script that is templated and or framed so that i can make it display the way i want. without to much hassle.
I have looked at hotscripts but not at cgi-resources yet...
Chris Schreiber 11-12-2002, 03:40 PM I would highly recommend taking a look at HiveMail. I used to offer free email to my vBulletin forum users from everyone.net, but wasn't very happy with their service and the recent amount of heavy advertising they have been doing. I also didn't like the idea of having a hosted solution when I had my own server.
HiveMail offers everything that you get from services like hotmail.com and everyone.net, but with complete control, and some really nice added functionality. Feel free to take a look at http://mail.progresstalk.com/ to see what I mean. You can see a complete features list at HiveMail's website at http://www.hivemail.com/
rockergrrl 11-12-2002, 04:25 PM I highly recommend HiveMail as well.
I've seen it throughout the development process, and I have nothing but praise for HiveMail!!
flashgear 11-12-2002, 05:35 PM thanx for the links guys ... been looking for something like this
DaveNET 11-14-2002, 11:03 PM This looks excellent. I bookmarked it for a project I'll be working on soon.
Lurking around these forums has alot of benefits.
F**Newbie 11-18-2002, 02:50 AM Hello,
Is everyone.net spamming their own clients?
I was looking to buy they outsourced programm, but if they will spam my clients, I 'll need to find another one.
ARe their other companies that offer the same?
Thanks
Regards
Snowman30 11-24-2002, 08:55 AM wow what a great looking program...i was going to develop a squirrel mail based product because i couldnt find a suitable solution that would allow me to easily setup a template for my site to mimc the everyone.net site i currently use, but this is great.
This hivemail seems very interesting to me.
But what about squirrelmail on an ensim box? Is it possible to have a signup page (for offering free webmail)?
I think I can write such a program using Ensim's command line commands. The only matter is controlling spams.
I think I should be able to limit number of recipients of a single email.

AlaskanWolf 01-01-2003, 05:09 AM alias-mail will do the trick
Gary, It seems fine but license is $399 while Hivemail is only $130 and has better appearance.
Thank you anyway. Mac.
Thanks for letting us know about hivemail! :)
I have developed a hotmail like system in Perl that you can run as a common user. It has many features.
Tell me if you are interested.

BentAxis 01-03-2003, 08:02 PM Take a look at OpenWebMail - http://www.openwebmail.org. It is based off of the NeoMail code, but has been vastly approved upon and is free. It has a lot of new support for built-in virtual mail hosting.
vibesolutions 01-08-2003, 07:43 PM hivemail kicks butt! nice user interface
