I am getting a dedicated server and want to know if there any good places to read up on to do with linux, ssh etc... and are there any type of forum/mailing list where I can see if there any updates of PHP, Apache etc...

php, apache etc all have their own mailinglists I think ... but you can of course also subscribe to project updates for those packages on freshmeat.net ...

freshmeat is I guess the main source for software

www.onlamp.com has a lot of information on the linux/apache/mysql/php combination
