View Full Version : Uptime monitoring?
techietype 08-03-2009, 07:33 PM Hi there,
I'm looking for recommendations for a service that monitors the uptime of your website, preferably one that has an option for a public link displaying your uptime history. I'm not opposed to paying for it, but we're looking for something that's no more than $15/month, for HTTP monitoring of a single website.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Orien 08-03-2009, 07:35 PM We've been using Panopta recently and it's great. In the past, we've also used Pingdom which works as well.
jrianto 08-03-2009, 08:50 PM siteuptime.com is a good one.
SC-Daniel 08-03-2009, 08:51 PM Pingdom is awesome :)
Kusai 08-03-2009, 09:10 PM Nagios is good and free too
nerdie 08-03-2009, 09:37 PM Nagios is good and free too
Yeah but it's useless to use until you have a spare box somewhere offsite that will monitor for you.
IGXHost 08-03-2009, 09:46 PM I would recommend Nagios.
I would recommend either Pingdom and or HyperSpin.
The-Pixel 08-03-2009, 11:20 PM I always thought SiteUptime or HyperSpin were good.
pphillips 08-03-2009, 11:23 PM We use Nagios ourselves, but Pingdom looks great and worked well during the trial. I believe they have a 100% free plan now too.
klikli 08-04-2009, 12:32 AM The Monitis, though I didn't use their service, but their free monitor service mon.itor.us is really cool
Jacob Wall 08-04-2009, 12:33 AM Pingdom is awesome :)
/agree
You might also want to look at Hyperspin, though they don't give you pretty graphs to look at :O

A little correction/update. We have just launched performance monitoring. Our uptime report, outage history and performance report are now with graphs. To see how they look like, use the demo link on our website and go to the "Report" tab.
Many people do not know about this because we have yet to announce, but we will announce real soon.
Thank you.
inspiron 08-04-2009, 10:10 AM We are using the nagios and its works great for us.
Hyperspin has always worked for me, simple and effective.
Jamie Edwards 08-04-2009, 10:39 AM We use Pingdom for (the external monitoring of) all of our servers and are yet to have a problem.
IH-Rameen 08-04-2009, 11:08 AM I would recommend Panopta..
UH-Bobby 08-04-2009, 11:55 AM We use Pingdom for (the external monitoring of) all of our servers and are yet to have a problem.
We also use Pingdom, and I haven't had a problem with them. We also used HyperSpin, and they weren't bad either. The only reason we switched, is Pingdom was a little cheaper, and their interface is a little clearer.
For verification if anyone needs it, simply go to my website, and click on Status. You'll see the pingdom page load.
