"we are one of the most stable providers out there..." it would seem like that is not the case... RackMy.com 11-11-2002, 12:23 AM Yeah, and I it also printed on all their magazine ads.... clocker1996 11-11-2002, 12:33 AM LOL Right at the top of their site (www.cw.com) http://www.cw.com/template_48.jsp?ID=global_home "Most financially stable operator in class" BiGWill 11-11-2002, 05:45 AM well maybe they'r cutting jobs to stay the "Most financially stable operator in class" RackMy.com 11-11-2002, 06:10 AM Cable & Wireless will announce plans to cut nearly 3,000 jobs and take a £1bn restructuring charge when it announces substantial interim losses on Wednesday. Despite presiding over four profit warnings in the past 18 months and a half-year deficit of well over £200m, there are no immediate plans to oust its much-criticised chief executive, Graham Wallace I hope it helps, but does not look to stable to me seg fault 11-11-2002, 06:51 AM I think there is alot of redundant jobs with them anyway since they are now owned by singtel right? allan 11-11-2002, 06:57 AM They really are one of the most stable providers out there...cutting jobs does not necessarily mean they are not stable. That being said, my primary worry with C&W is the rumors that they might be pulling out of the states entirely: http://www.carrierhotels.com/greymatter/archives/00000081.htm That would really suck as I have a lot of friends who went from WorldCom to C&W when that debacle happened in June. BiGWill 11-11-2002, 07:19 AM Originally posted by hosticle I think there is alot of redundant jobs with them anyway since they are now owned by singtel right? huh? since when is C&W owned by SingTel? I'm pretty sure they aren't! Where did you get that information from? best regards, allan 11-11-2002, 07:23 AM I think C&W sold a subsidiary to SingTel: http://www.fool.com/news/foolplate/2001/foolplate010326.htm Gernot 11-11-2002, 07:50 AM Originally posted by uuallan That being said, my primary worry with C&W is the rumors that they might be pulling out of the states entirely: http://www.carrierhotels.com/greymatter/archives/00000081.htm That would really suck as I have a lot of friends who went from WorldCom to C&W when that debacle happened in June. I don't think they'll leave this market entirely anytime soon. If they did they'd also have to leave Exodus for example. It would be a bit of a quick-shot considering the amount of money they have at the bank. allan 11-11-2002, 07:53 AM Originally posted by Gernot I don't think they'll leave this market entirely anytime soon. See, the thing is, C&W has not closed the Exodus deal yet...which is why my friends are worried. Yes, it would cost C&W a lot to back out of the deal, but not as much as it would cost them if they had finished the deal and decided to back out. Well, honestly I have never understood why they bought out Exodus in the first place, but since they did I suppose they'll stick to that agreement, be it finalized or not yet, because they couldn't back out of the deal without losing a lot of credibility of their share-holders e.g. Well, after all the speculations we'll all see what's going to happen :) I doubt it will be much though. allan 11-11-2002, 08:08 AM Originally posted by Gernot Well, after all the speculations we'll all see what's going to happen :) I doubt it will be much though. Yup, I hope you are correct. RackMy.com 11-11-2002, 10:59 AM Yes, it will be interesting. Talking to our CW rep, they say it's a strong possibility they will pull out of the US (except IP) nrsoftware 11-12-2002, 05:21 AM Originally posted by RackMy.com Yes, it will be interesting. Also any indication of when any of this might go down. Thanks for the info. BiGWill 11-12-2002, 07:52 AM pull out? wow. leaving exodus or what? |
