And I thought they were the most "stable" out there:

thats what they kept trying to tell me on the phone...

"we are one of the most stable providers out there..."

it would seem like that is not the case...

Cable & Wireless will announce plans to cut nearly 3,000 jobs and take a £1bn restructuring charge when it announces substantial interim losses on Wednesday.
Despite presiding over four profit warnings in the past 18 months and a half-year deficit of well over £200m, there are no immediate plans to oust its much-criticised chief executive, Graham Wallace
I hope it helps, but does not look to stable to me

I think there is alot of redundant jobs with them anyway since they are now owned by singtel right?

They really are one of the most stable providers out there...cutting jobs does not necessarily mean they are not stable.

That being said, my primary worry with C&W is the rumors that they might be pulling out of the states entirely:

That would really suck as I have a lot of friends who went from WorldCom to C&W when that debacle happened in June.

I think C&W sold a subsidiary to SingTel:

I don't think they'll leave this market entirely anytime soon. If they did they'd also have to leave Exodus for example. It would be a bit of a quick-shot considering the amount of money they have at the bank.

See, the thing is, C&W has not closed the Exodus deal yet...which is why my friends are worried. Yes, it would cost C&W a lot to back out of the deal, but not as much as it would cost them if they had finished the deal and decided to back out.

Well, honestly I have never understood why they bought out Exodus in the first place, but since they did I suppose they'll stick to that agreement, be it finalized or not yet, because they couldn't back out of the deal without losing a lot of credibility of their share-holders e.g.
Well, after all the speculations we'll all see what's going to happen :) I doubt it will be much though.

Yes, it will be interesting. Talking to our CW rep, they say it's a strong possibility they will pull out of the US (except IP)

Mike,

Did your rep give you any indication of what would happen with Exodus or the CW network? Also any indication of when any of this might go down. Thanks for the info.
