ThinkHosted is now offering secure versions of all services. This way your password is never send unencrypted and hackers are unable to read it.
The following services have a secure counterpart: FTP, POP, IMAP, Webmail and the Control Panel. In addition, all clients have access to SSL protected webspace.
Don't send your passwords in plain text, protect them.

Really what are you encrypting them in? If a hacker cracks the encrypted files then can he not read it. The only true un crackable Encryption is one time pad

I know what you mean btw ;) but if you dont want every monkey who know's a little bit about unix slagging you off and trying to flame you I would change the hacker not being able to read it part :) there are a lot of flamers on WHT half of them know ****.

Best of luck buddie.

I think the passwords are pretty secure. As far as I know all of the services use RSA and it would still take a couple of years before a hackers would be able to read the actual password.
I have yet to see the first hacker that wants to do such an effort just for a simple password.
If the user changes his/her password every 6 months or so, I don't think anybody would be able to get into your account ;).

I was just trying keep it simple for those that get scared when they hear their computer send out their IP when you browse the web :D.

Just as a side note, md5 and such aren't 100% secure too, there is still brute force. Nothing is 100% safe, I'm just trying to get close :).

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate feedback.

one time pad.. well it works great as long as the operators do not become lazy and use the same pad twice. also there is the problem of distributing the pad to both parties.

However I think the services he are offering will let people rest at ease.. sure they are not 100% effective but close. You can still mim them, or use other ways to defeat secure connections.. but these are complicated attacks that the majority of kids do not know how to perform, and then there is always the question of 'is my data that important' .. in this case email and web content.

with all that aside.. his services ARE guaranteed to block 100% of sniffers on your network and upstream.
