View Full Version : where to find freelance jobs?
ze_spartan 07-27-2009, 05:18 AM I've been doing full time/part time for a while now, but currently i feel i need to do some side work like logos/icons..etc
so any freelance site suggestions would b great :)
DesignBear 07-27-2009, 05:21 AM You're not far from one now. Look a few categories down on the forums.
WHT is a good place to get freelance jobs, just keep a good portfolio of solid, recent work and you should be bringing in a couple of jobs per day.
Good luck :)
Adrian Andreias 07-27-2009, 05:23 AM Check out rentacoder or elance

Adrian Andreias 07-27-2009, 07:10 AM Well, I've tried to use rentacoder some time ago without success. Prices are ridiculously low. I have a friend though that is very active on rentacoder and making a living out of it.
From what I've understood it takes some time on these kind of sites to build a good score and reputation.
On development projects we prefer established projects and customers (2-3 developers working more than a year on a project etc.).
mioot 07-27-2009, 07:30 AM www.elance.com is best .
LoganNZ 07-27-2009, 07:57 AM Create your own work - Make a portfolio and spend time on forums, get a name running for yourself and before you know it you will have plenty of development work.
Positive attitude is required :P
The-Pixel 07-27-2009, 10:49 AM I would suggest creating your own company. If there is something you don't know how to do then you would need to outsource but you can offer a wide range of services that makes it hard for any individual or company to say no to you. Have a solid portfolio with unbeatable prices that gives you an edge over other competitors.
Try http://www.youthedesigner.com/graphic-design-jobs/
superbrain 07-27-2009, 01:22 PM you can try www.superbraintech.com
Its in somewhat of a beta mode right now but there are projects there to bid on.
DesignBear 08-03-2009, 10:08 PM superbrain, looks good so far - i'm sure it'll catch on.
leahmarie 08-04-2009, 04:59 AM Thanks for the tips. I've been looking for side jobs for a long time. Keep the fire burning. :D Thanks. And Good luck to you all.
skullbox 08-05-2009, 06:21 PM I do my freelance work under and LLC. I never got anywhere with the rentacoder sites. I always ended up losing out to someone who bid some outragously low price.
Eoin_ 08-10-2009, 07:36 AM There is also 99designs.com, which I have used on two projects.
The problem is that it's a competition system - i.e. you enter your submission and the contest holder picks a winner from all the submissions. This means that you can enter a good few competitions without getting paid. However, I would imagine that the prizes are higher than the ones on the freelancing sites.
Kinetik Hosts 08-10-2009, 12:43 PM I've even found a couple of small jobs and contracts on Craigslist.
justin3ds 08-10-2009, 10:03 PM i have been using scriptlance.com. its clean and has an escrow system, but its hard to find work :-/
KellyThomas 08-17-2009, 02:15 AM If anyone is looking for information on freelancer can easily go through a site it's call freelancerguru.com/ hope it'll work for you..
bradleymartin 08-18-2009, 01:47 AM There is a great site for finding freelance work called seeking service. The only downside is that they require you to buy credits to respond to jobs listed. its About $4 per project.
Kelly Thomas 08-18-2009, 07:11 AM There is a large market from which a freelance writer can choose, and the sky is the limit as to what type of genre or how much work a freelance writer might have at any given time. A freelance writer whose specialty is fiction might dabble in poetry, short stories or e-books, or he might have an ongoing novel in the works. Many publishers will accept fiction but most freelance writers agree it is a much harder market to break into.
natay 08-28-2009, 04:51 AM U can also visit a Russian free-lance website free-lance.ru.They often need English native speakers to check out translations or write articles in perfect English for websites.
