View Full Version : GoDaddy - At It Again!
kkimmel 11-10-2002, 03:36 AM I came in here and bitched about them once before. They had failed to make a renewal and refused to give me my money back. I threatened to charge back on all of the charges I could (which would cost them an arm and a leg in chargeback fees) and they finally after nealy two weeks of finagaling, gave me the the dough back.
They locked my account and wont allow me to renew or order more domains, but I can manage the ones I already have, they were worried that I'd screw them with chargebacks. Well, I was able to manage them like normal.
Well, I started moving all of my domains one by one to Dotster, and then I got side tracked with a million other issues and am finally getting back to it.
Well, I still have about 40 domains there. So today I go and try to sign in, and it says "The page you have requested does not exist" after I put my user/pass pair in and hit submit.
So I though "Hmmm, maybe I fogot my password." So I tried typing in my 'other' password I commonly use for such things, and it said "Invalid username and/or password". So I was using my correct password the first time, thier login system is whacked.
Well, I sent a ticket into thier support group and waited. No reply. Sent again. No reply. Sent again. Still no reply. This has been going on for about three weeks and I still cannot get any reply.
I need to start moving the domains again because some of them are close to expireing.
What do I have to do to draw a reaction from these morons?
Akash 11-10-2002, 03:44 AM there is a user at WHT that claims to be a godaddy employee, maybe contact him?
this is just another case of godaddy's quality support
AceWeb 11-10-2002, 03:53 AM Sorry to hear about that. I hope you get it worked out.
However, I do have to say that I used godaddy for years now, and their service and support was great. Never had a problem so far.
nvphone 11-10-2002, 06:31 AM Try using the phone.
I always just call them.
No problems for years with them.
When phone support is there, use it.
Hint: Try to be nice on the phone, no yelling or name calling will get you more.
Chicken 11-10-2002, 12:00 PM kkimmel, you can try to contact Brad (WHT member): bok (http://webhostingtalk.com/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=20408)
WII-Aaron 11-10-2002, 12:33 PM I would call them. This is what I usually do.
I will tell you though. I haven't had great luck with thier support. Things like I call with a problem and one support person tells me they'll fix it, then I call back the next day and I get a "We'd never tell you that!"... Also, recently (actually the same customer) went through my reseller site to register his name ($70 worth of registration) and mysteriously it didn't show up in my account. It was directly registered at GoDaddy.
Anyway, sorry to get off on the rant. Call them, you'll at least get a live person.
Aaron
Pilgrim 11-10-2002, 04:48 PM Why do you need to have access to your account anyway? You can just initiate a transfer from the site of dotster right?
They'll transfer the domain name away from godaddy.
Doing a chargeback on 100+ domain names you purchased through godaddy would not be the smartest thing to do. And that's putting it very mildly...
Providing your bank/card company will go along with you on this one (which is doubtfull) godaddy will probably fight this and win.
Goods were ordered and delivered. Because they failed to deliver on one item does not mean you can get back the funds for all the other goods as well.
It will ruin your credit. Not only that but when you do these chargebacks godaddy will probably take control of your domain names when you do the chargeback. Meaning you loose the domain names and your sites go down. And I wouldn't bet on your names at dotster being safe either...
WildCard 11-10-2002, 07:15 PM Well, I doubt it would do anything to their credit to chargeback on Godaddy.
I do think you are right that Godaddy would lock up the domains and confiscate them. Then they would sell them on the 'Used domain store'.
Even if your credit card company opts to side with you on it, it's not to say that a small claims court would agree with their point of view. Collections agency calling you about the money...
Then I suppose your credit rating would be effected. So I guess Pilgrim was right about that. ;)
Was there any chance there was a problem with GD's website when you tried to login? You said it came up with a page does not exist error.
I've had great luck in calling them. Like was suggested before, just call them, be nice and see what was the problem.

Go Daddy has recently migrated to a single login, as opposed to the double login (domain and shopper). The migration has been very smooth except for the customers who had multiple logins both domain and shopper. These are being merged on a manual basis and therefore you'll need to speak with someone at Go Daddy. If you're writing the support online there should be no reason you haven't been answered other then incorrectly stating your contact info, which has happened. Please check the email address you've placed within your login ID for the rightnow support interface.
Try this in the mean time kkimmel, for domain login (user name and password) click on the welcome link on the home-page as opposed to the My Account link. For your shopper records (customer # and pass) use the My Account link.
If you have any further questions let me know via PM.

Yes, and just wanted to say that it is a very good move, as I deal with many domains (my own and my clients), it made it much better for me. I never understood why we had to do it 2 times before. :D
kkimmel 12-02-2002, 08:25 AM It finally got taken care of.
You cannot transfer without going into your account if the contact information (e-mail addys) is out of date because they send these stupid little confirmation e-mails with links that you have to click on within 5 days or they deny the transfer.
My bankcard issuer absoultely would have gone along with me on it because goods were not delivered in the quantity specified (one year of domain registration service),
There was a hosting company that screwed with me once: adaptive.net. My bankcard issuer filed over 20 chargebacks against them for me and I prevailed on every last one of them. The charges were for $9.95 and then I am sure thier processor hit them with a $29.00 chargeback fee for each one.
Small claims court would require them to hire lawyers and I belive they would have sided with me under the false advertising provisions of the Indiana Consumer Protection Act.
Is this your first time dealing with domain names kkimmel? EVERY registrar does this thing called CONFIRMATION via email--it's also referred to as security.
Look out Dotster.!
kkimmel - u sound like on of those 'i know everything - i am never happy' complainers.
u sound like on of those 'i know everything - i am never happy' complainers.
I would agree although i would add uninformed
MSSTATEBDFAN 12-02-2002, 08:08 PM Small claims court would require them to hire lawyers
Are you sure?
kittiwat 12-06-2002, 05:50 AM GoDaddy's support is very slowwww. Yeah, although I'm in a different time zone, but more than three different occations that I neeeded support from them, they could never worked out the first time and had to wait for their supervisors or something, which most of the time I never heard anything back. I'm moving almost all my domains to enom now.
RamboLeer 03-10-2003, 07:15 PM I'll have to agree with whoever said that when it comes to Wild West/Godaddy are not able to respond. Not long ago, I noticed that I wasn't receiving any checks from GoDaddy so I inquire about this. I talk to a fella there who says he'd call me back with more info. Calls me back a couple of days later saying that he still can't figure out the problem. Then he e-mails me saying that I was chargeback'ed for a couple of domains which put my account at a negative balance!
Chargeback'ed??? And all this time, I never got any notifications about this??? It's like I'm not supposed to know when I go negative balanced! And now that I know these domains are sold by Godaddy, how should I trust Godaddy that it'll use the money it gets for those sold domains towards my negative balance???
Their website tells me I should be receiving about a grand in comissions from them but I've only cashed $100! Again, the way they operate is very, very unprofessional!
I'm looking into eNom to transfer. I don't care about my current domains that I have w/WildWest... but I know very well that none of those customers will renew with WildWest after I leave.
Ilir.
Tropical Tundra 03-11-2003, 12:38 AM I have used GoDaddy for years now and I like their services (no opinion on wild west never used that services). As my names come up for renewal I move them over to my GoDaddy account. I've also used enom, registerfly, namesdirect, and register.com. Go Daddy is the best by far. I like their interface and they're easy to use. They always answer my questions quickly. People use so many fake emails that they loose track and then blame the registrar! I'm sure Go Daddy could care less if you sued them get real. Small claims court.
yeah, ive never had a problem with godaddy. Ive never used their email support or whatever, nor do i use their support often, but when i did phone them i always recieved good service. I like their domain control panel alot, makes things real easy, specially for new people who havent got a clue
