Just starting my web hosting company and I've got a reseller account. But what I need next is a way to except credit cards. I'm looking for one that I wouldn't need to pay monthly but just charged by interest on each transaction.

Both 2checkout and RevEcom / Paysystems offer 3rd-party credit card processing accounts with no monthly fee - just a startup fee and a percentage of each transaction.
I finally chose to go with Paysystems because when I decide to get a merchant account, if I like their services, I can seamlessly switch from an IBA to an IMA account. They have, right off the front page of their site, a tool which allows clients to check on the status of a transaction processed with Paysystems. They also have a well-publicised support number, which I admit made a difference to me. You can use their software for tracking clients, or use your own software (I use Perlbill), so that's a nice thing to have.
The all-popup site navigation kind of makes my teeth itch; and just as 2checkout is currently experiencing growing pains, Paysystems is not perfect: some other WHT members recently had a problem with recurring chargebacks (which was eventually resolved).
I also accept PayPal - if you have a business account with them, you can accept credit card payments. That option, though, requires that your clients create an account with PayPal. Some clients may be put off by this. I (and many other hosts) have both a third party CC processor (or a merchant account) and also accept Paypal.

Looking into this myself. I'm looking at really small transactions, like $5/each. Seems like most services that charge a per transaction fee (som as high as a dollar) will be taking a much larger chunk of my transaction than I would want. Anyone charge just a %age?

Well, PayPal has low rates: 2.9% and .30 per transaction for business accounts. If the majority of your transactions are truly that small (US$5), you should consider PayPal.
Again, though, they aren't the easiest people to contact when you have a problem; and they do require that your clients create an account with them. For some people, having to create another account on another system, let alone having to hook in either a credit card or their chequing account as surety, can deter some people from using your service. So it appears that you get what you pay for.

Use paysystems.com - ok until you get enough orders to justify getting your own merchant account.

I've been using paypal for well over a year now, and it has been working out just fine, but the disadvantage of having new orders have to create paypal accounts [if they don't already have one] is a hassle. I just signed on with paysystems as our new credit card processor, and their rates are cheaper as well.
I recommend paysystems, for a $49 set up fee, it's well worth it. You can order it and not pay the set up fee, just as a 'test'. :)

hmm.. yeah, paysystems looks very good. I've been looking into cc processing ... I currently use ccnow.com for my label but they don't handle services, only goods, so I can't use them for hosting fees.
paysystems looks really good. I think I'll sign up there soon.
