I had someone approach me about doing a site similar to TextsFromLastNight.com (possibly NSFW because of subject matter of the texting). I was wondering what kind of software the site used, and how much it might be to get programmed.

Just WordPress will do. Its just posts, votes and comments basically.

I would imagine it'd be much cheaper to buy the script than to have it re-programmed.

@Victor, that's just great. Never knew the script was available for purchase. $199,- is not really cheap though, but much cheaper than letting some coder change a Drupal/WordPress base install.
