View Full Version : staminus.net, questions for current customers
Fair Dinkum 11-09-2002, 02:32 PM Looking at getting two dedicated servers at their datacenter.
How are they doing lately? I did a search, and it looks mostly good. Anybody that currently has a server there... how is the uptime? Network issues? Support... are they responsive?
Thanks.
Glenn
I'm not a customer of Staminus, but since there's no answer yet ...
I actually have heard good news about Staminus.net. Some people here have couple of servers and the uptime has been great. :)
Fair Dinkum 11-09-2002, 04:29 PM Thanks Rey...I have heard good things as well. Price is right, etc... So...any users here have some input as well?
Glenn
StevenG 11-09-2002, 10:42 PM hmm well their network has been down for over 2 hours now.... and still counting
StevenG 11-10-2002, 12:59 AM Update - 4 1/4 hours down.. no answer to support requests and no one answering phones.... this is ridiculous!! Does this answer your question?
dside443 11-10-2002, 01:41 AM It is a Staminus.net router/network issue because I've contacted the uplinks and had them verify for me the links were working and had them traceroute it from their point to Staminus.net.
Keep in mind Matt is usually a quick person at resolving such issues and this is the first time that there has been a delay in such response. We've made phone calls to his office # but there is no one picking up.
Hopefully, he's okay and not hurt or something. It's just not like him to ignore inquiries for over 4 hours. He usually satisfies them within minutes.
clocker1996 11-10-2002, 02:09 AM yep. id say it is very unusual for him to not answer.
staminus.net doesnt load for me btw
I'd kill myself if one of my servers were to be down for 4+ hrs
Well not really, but you get the idea!
StevenG 11-10-2002, 02:33 AM I have been tracing all afternoon... all end at the main router at staminus... Nobody has contacted with any info.. no one is answering phones... LOL (Sarcastic)
Fair Dinkum 11-10-2002, 02:44 AM They are up again.
We had an edge router issue. Pager was on the local network (bad idea), thus pages not received. Network issue fixed. Edge router simply stopped routing (unknown reasons thus far). Roughly 5 hours downtime, credit of half month being issued. Any questions or further comments, please direct to support@staminus.net. Many apologies for the inconvenience and lack of responsiveness.
StevenG 11-10-2002, 05:41 AM OK, everyone has their problems and it does seem out of the norm for this outage - Response times (Generally) are very, very good - steps have been taken so that we may contact staminus at any time should we have the need and the half a month's credit speaks for itself - All is forgiven, and yes I would still recommend them at the moment anyway. :-)
Back to work people. :D
Wow, half a month credit for 5 hours downtime. Now, that's what I called a true SLA uptime guarantee. Keep it up Staminus! :)
diederik 11-10-2002, 02:26 PM Yep.. pretty impressive :)
Fair Dinkum 11-11-2002, 02:58 PM OK, well.. I have been watching, pinging etc.... and I like what I see. Even given the unfortunate outage.... I liked their response to that situation. No excuse, just an honest statement of what happened, and very reasonable compensation IMHO.
I got a nice quote from David at versehost.com for my new servers with staminus. One is being set up now (just waiting on the Cpanel license.... come on DarkOrb... get it in gear!). I will be ordering a second server this week.
I went through versehost on this deal partly because the price was good. Also, I started out as a reseller with them, moved to a dedicated server and have been pleased. David usually takes care of me in a prompt manner, so I feel comfortable to continue to do business with him and his company.
Thanks again for the comments folks. I appreciate it.
