I have become very concerned with the security of my servers recently. I used to take all measures I knew about, but I am not a security expert. Because of this I am currently considering using a service like scan alert to do security checks and advise me on how to keep the hackers out.

I was wondering if there are any similar products out there. Scan alert is rather pricey for a student that isn't into payed hosting. Might it be a more viable alternative to find somebody with security experience to check my servers over every 2 weeks or so? I was thinking maybe trying to find somebody from somewhere like India with relevant experience. There are very skilled people in that part of the world and wages are far lower there..

I'd love to know your opinions/experiences...
