View Full Version : break the record!
Akash 11-08-2002, 10:37 PM Our Record is 384 on 09-13-2002 at 09:58 PM
Don't you think it's about time we broke this record and hit the 400 mark. What if we set a date where we all just visit WHT. VB counts an active member as someone who has visited the forums within the last 15 minutes. So if we set a 15 minute time window where we all visit, I think we could easily break the record....
Lippy 11-08-2002, 10:40 PM I'm game, just its cordinating the times zones thats going to be fun.
Kaumil 11-08-2002, 10:42 PM Ha, This should be fun. May shut down webhostingtalk.com with overload :)
faculty 11-08-2002, 10:44 PM lol..

If they can handle 384, surely at least 16 extra people wouldn't be a problem...:D
As for time, it would probably have to be between noon and 3 PM GMT (7AM and 10AM Eastern US Standard Time - not sure about the aussie times...)
faculty 11-08-2002, 10:46 PM that would be around 2am For aussies
NumLock 11-08-2002, 11:09 PM ok by moi.

Ha! I'd be up from 8am to 5am EST time. So anytime between then, I am free to help the WHT overload. :D
ckpeter 11-08-2002, 11:53 PM Don't get so excited, guys. The user count isn't particularly accurate - I have seen it reset a number of times.
If I remember correctly, the count has gone up to as high as 550+. (and that was on the old server).
Peter
Acronym BOY 11-09-2002, 12:03 AM Ive seen up to 3987 people online at once. Though it wasnt here, it was a place running OpenTopic 2.1 with Oracle. They used a 5 minute window though.
Will we get any more content out of this increase in people, or more reposts of flash stuff and click this sort of posts?
Kaumil 11-09-2002, 12:07 AM Aww damn :(

Most Aussies would be sleeping then....:) And there are also 4 time zones in Australia ;)
Kaumil 11-09-2002, 03:51 PM I think around 5 time zones in Canada.
From BC to Newfoundland:
Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, and Maritime (newfoundland)
I think that's correct! If not correct me!

mcfcforever 11-09-2002, 05:28 PM im game..what day though ? today ?
Matt
Akash 11-09-2002, 05:30 PM I think we'll have to set a date a couple weeks in advance so that we get more exposure....maybe sometime in december or maybe November 30th?
ChickenSteak 11-09-2002, 06:43 PM I'm, game :). Yes perhaps nov 30, as we should build a time list for time zone, area, etc and when to visit so it all perfects :D ;) :) .
mcfcforever 11-09-2002, 06:59 PM yeah akash, November 30th :D
Hostkookster 11-11-2002, 02:49 AM Couldn't we all just keep our browser open to this page for 1 day? This would surely break the record :D
ChickenSteak 11-11-2002, 02:54 AM Hostkookster, it wouldn't work due to session timing out and it wouldn't even know you were there.

Actually, we have 6:
pacific (gmt-8), mountain (gmt-7), central(gmt-6), eastern(gmt-5), atlantic(gmt-4), and newfoundland(gmt-3.5)
:D
Studio64 11-11-2002, 04:02 AM Someone could always design a framed page (w/ an IFRAME) with WHT open inside of it.
Then set a META tag of no-cache and META refresh is every 50 seconds...
Just have everyone keep that page open...
That should do the trick
anon-e-mouse 11-11-2002, 04:26 AM Easy solution is the who's online list.
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/online.php?s= that autofrefreshes ;)
