I have a lead on a domain that was sent to the central registry to be deleted. Is there a way I can track this so that I know the minute it is available for registration again?

I realize I can use something like snapnames.com, but I was wondering if there's a way to do this without spending any money.

Is there a script that I can run via cron that will check every few minutes or hours or something? It's only for one domain name, so resources isn't a problem.

Thanks!

I would assume there are a few services out there that are free that will grab up the domain for you.

If the name is great and you really want it, just spend the $70 on a snap. Maybe there already is a snap, have you checked?

This might be a totally moot question if there is. Snapnames is highly successful.

How do I tell if someone already has a snap on the name?

just go to the snapnames.com website, enter the domain name, if there is a little red crossed box in the second column which is titled (if available) Back-OrderSnapBack® $69 per
Then there is a snapback on that domain name.

Depends on the registrar. For example if it was registered through an opensrs/tucows reseller, just count down 40 days to second (the registration/expiration date/time are in the whois) and it will be available to register.

Don't know about how to for any others besides one of those services.
