Help. Instead of displaying the normal error pages like 404 or page not found, my browser gets forwarded to this freakin portal site: http://www.xupiter.com/

They are really idiots, they got a different page to display for each error. For example, when i get a domain not found, the forward me to a page of their's that says, sorry we cant find your page, but try searching for a similar one on our greatest web search here. Then it goes on to display their homepage.

Is my only option to dlete all my IE files?

I agree it's very annoying. I really don't know how these sites hi-jack IE files like this. All they need to do is buy bulk traffic, and they are having a residual income coming in!

Have you tried "disabling" your friendly IE http error pages? Try re-installing IE?

Ad Aware is an amazing piece of software. The worst thing is when people tap into XP's Messenger Service :(

You can also add them to the 'Restricted' sites under the security settings for IE and you'll never be able to go there again. I've done that will all the pop-up spammer sites like doubleclick, etc.

Go to Tools->Internet Options->Security->Restricted Sites->Sites and add:
*.xupiter.com
*.doubleclick.net
*.doubleclick.com
etc. for all the sites that take over your browser.

You'll never see them again. :D

that was me :)

mozilla 1.1 is just AMAZING... been using it for all my browsing for several months now

best feature has to be the 'tabbed browsing' so you don't need 10 instances of IE running to jump around a few sites..

very configurable in the pop-ups department too

love it :)
