Hi,
Is anyone lately facing a problem with cpanel as in few of my servers hosted with Burst.net all of a sudden Proftp has started putting lot of load on to the server and thus making them go down.
Now ProFTP doesnot start at all.
Thanks

I would suggest contacting burst for support

No problems here?
Restart proftpd and post the error message here ;)

No problems with my server there and ProFTP, so I don't think it's a Burst configuration issue. Try restarting the server, or just ask Burst (remember, they're managed servers, so take advantage of their techs).

There is a problem with the latest vesion and cpanel. I believe it only affects red hat servers running software raid. Downgrading to 1.2.4 will correct the problem. To stop it from upgrading until the problem is fixed you can chattr +i /usr/sbin/proftpd.

Just today, my nameservers went out of control (4 processes using up 20% of current memory at that time, according to top). I restarted them, and they dropped back to normal (at around the same time, server load jumped to 1.5). Is there any way to fix this too?

Simply downgrading proftpd to 1.2.4 corrected the issue for me.
