I also posted this in his other ad(which is in the wrong place):

Buyer Beware: Jelsoft may have the right to ask for the domain without compensation.

Nice domains... i'm sure they are copyrighted though. It's never too smart to base an entire community around a domain name that has a copyrighted company's name within it. Curious though... if this can warrant a $500 request, then how much is a domain like vbulletin.net worth ?

any traffic going through the domains?

I searched the copyright and trademark offices and found nothing on VBB.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't see anything... they can claim prior art, but it really depends on the contents of the website.

Never said Jelsoft did hold a trademark or copyright, but yes, depending on how the buyer uses the domain names, Jelsoft MAY be within their rights to ask for the domains....

edit: I think the best solution for any interested buyers is to first email JelSoft and tell them how you intend to use the domain(s); if they give the go ahead then you can buy them. Otherwise, I'd hate to see someone's $500 go down the drain...

Well, putting vbulletin aside for a second... invision board blows phpbb out of the water... ;) First off, I see no comparison between, vBulletin and phpBB. That is sorta like comparing apples to oranges.

Secondly, Invision Board - who? :stickout: :D

I like oranges better than apple

Classic example of another thread gone off topic

Spirit, you may want to run a spell check on the content of your website, before worrying about what threads stay on topic at WHT.

What’s with the personal attack, many hosts here seem to hate competition that’s all you people go on about i'll post where i want to post, and post what i want to say.... i have let a tech know to fix asap, hell i am not going to do it when i have people working for me.

What if YOU came in here wanting to sell a domain, and people start talking, about which BB is better, then oranges vs apple. It’s just a waste of space.

Come on get back on topic.

It wasn't a personal attack... it was merely a suggestion (of which I see you didn't appreciate. *making note of that fact*).

FYI, I don't currently run a hosting co... so your assumptive reasoning is wayyy off base. No need to be so high-strung and defensive about it.

When you feel the urge to help the community, report the thread or post to the mods (thats what the link is for) and let them sort it out. In fact, that is what has been advised by chicken, in the suggestion forum... to a thread of yours (I think) concerning the issue you have, with this thread.

Did the thread drift off-topic? sure. Was it harmful to the originators end result? I don't see that it was. Was there a call for your post even? perhaps, perhaps not. If we were to list each post, and whether or not they were on topic, would yours be on the "aye" or "nay" side?
