Hello everyone,

I think I might have gotten in over my head with this one. I recently aquired a vps for 3 months from 1&1.. I'm not familiar with them but after my vps was activated I learned it was using plesk 9.0.1 with vzpp and now all i have is nothing...
Ive search everywhere for tutorials on how to set it up. I'm familiar with hosting but only recently really became dedicated but before i was using reseller accounts and wanted to learn more so I got the vps.
Once i logged in to plesk I realized nothing was setup because it is a unmanaged vps.
Here's what im wanting to know... Domain name is something they assigned to it but im wanting it setup so its more like a reseller.. http://xxx.com so clients can go and order things but im unsure how to set everything up so i can acually use it right.. Is their any tutorials i can go by..ive googled everything known and didnt really see anything that i thought really pertained to me...

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I dont want to lose my butt off because i dove in head first not knowing anything..

If I were you, I would head over to the employment offers section and find a tech that can help you out for a couple of hours and walk you through the plesk setup, server hardening, etc. You may even want to hire a server management company. It is very risky putting clients on an unsecured server. Good luck with your search!

LOL..no one needs to worry about any clients being added to the vps untill im absolutely sure that its secure. I have 3 months to get it going so in my opinion thats plenty of time to get things worked out..thanks for the advice..i do appreciate the quick reply.

If you are on windows vps you may need to configure IIS,ASP,ASP.NET,Frontpage,Microsoft DNS(if you were not using bind DNS) etc. before installing plesk.
