So, what does everyone think is the best, and most stable, control panel for server 2008?

We have been using DotnetPanel since the launch of Windows 2008 and it has been awesome.

DotNetPanel, very scalable and many features.

I have used Plesk before and found it stable (3 years ago).

Unless things have changed, I'd look into it.

Both I believe give free trial licenses.

Plesk is good, but not for the small webmasters.

I agree with Moodi. Have been using Hosting Controller with Windows 2008 for few years and it works like a charm.

I'd actually never go back to Plesk. Been using Dotnetpanel since 2006. Now use it with our Windows 2008 Resellers and Windows 2008 VPS. Excellent control panel and always up to date with the latest Windows technology.

For Windows server 2008 Hosting Controller 8 is the best option. Its been written in such a way that it gives amazing control over server 2008.

Yes agree to all above HC(Hosting Controller) and DNP(Dotnet Panel) are good control panels for WIndows 2008 as all other competition is now owned by PLESK ;)

Dont ever go with the plesk, check their forum they hardly give you support and they never know what they are talking about.

They will leave you in black clouds if you start facing any problem.

Guys lets not use plesk anymore its owned by the parallel and they suck in support they think they are giant but we will bring them down.

How do i know? Personal experience 101% .

We will be using Plesk 9.x for our Windows Server 2008 rollout later this year. We really, really like Plesk and Virtuozzo and feel like it has been a good decision to go with them.

Good luck. Virtuozzo doesn't work with Windows 2008 at the moment. Personally I wouldn't use plesk ever again for our own setup but we still offer it to clients who are used to it and don't want to make the swap to DNP.

Wow, again control panel war is onn....:D

you better evaluate short listed control panel as almost all offer some kind of demo and then make the decision your good judgement. You will find here 10 people favoring one CP and other ten favoring 2nd CP...

So go by your requiremetns and instinct but becareful with whatever decision you make as this will result directly to your business in future.

As for my vote is concern, I would rather not vote here :)

I tried plesk once and find it quite un-user friendly and not very nice to use, compared to HELM anyway. So it clearly doesn't have the best design or UI. However it is my experience with Parallels that would stop me using Plesk or any of their other products as I think their support is abysmal. They bought out all the other major panels and are now unable to support them all as it seems they have neither the the staff or the technical skills to do so, leaving a lot of very pissed off customers.

When I had to get paid server support from them I was extremely surprised and disgusted by the agreement you must sign which declares that they will hold no responsibility for anything they may do to your server or your business, so they are free to completely screw your server, take down your business, lose you customers, get you hacked etc and then just walk away and leave you with all these problems if they cannot fix it.

I also have to agree with what someone else said, that they don't really appear to know what they are doing. I was speaking to one of their developers regarding a problem with one of the payment gateways in HELM, and he told me I was using the wrong DLL (which I wasn't) and told me to change it use another (wrong) DLL and totally broke my system and didn't know how to fix it or have a clue how it worked.
I also had to explain to him how recurring transactions should should work, how the payment gateway worked, what it should be doing etc as he didn't have a clue about that either.

So if I had let him make these changes on our live server, we would have been screwed and unable to take any payments, thankfully I wouldn't give him remote access based on past experience and only deployed his suggesgtions on a test server.

Did they have a working demo? Or just a couple of posters?

It's been a while and I have not seen anything except for a name change and the un-updated pdfs on their site.
