Unless something changed: No, and you are not going to find anyone, yet. In one of the other threads, the mods said that they are not useing that systm it. They are just setting it up for now.

We work quickly (sometimes). I think it was finished being set up the day that was posted, so errr.. yes we're using it, though it might need a bit of tweaking to become fully useful. :D

Ah, cool. Can I be the 1st beta tester to get a warning?
I am sure Aussie Bob will not mind getting one too. ;) :D

That is, beyond helping moderators know that someone had been warned.

It's more of a deterrent, I think. ;)

Is it spam warning levels, or...? How exactly does the system work?

RDX1
11-08-2002, 06:55 AM
well i seen the hack over at vb.org

when a mod sees you doing something well, dumb ect you will get warnings like

rasict = 5
spam = 2
off topic =1

and when you get 25 warnings you're banned

IM NOT saying this is the system, just what i saw at the demo of the hack

Warn Me! ;)

how dreary, my warning level is 0

what could I do, do you think, that I could bump my warning level up

I'm open to ideas

I would suggest spamming the forums with the same copy/paste message about how members should come to your site.

No

wait.

That will only get you banned.

Okay.

Never mind.

susannad
11-08-2002, 08:49 AM
OK, should I should try that one

You're gonna hafta move to the States and learn the slang.

Just think of "thick headed" then. Or "hard of understanding."

Truthfully though, I don't understand why members need to see the "Warning Level."

NexDog

Again, it is part deterrent. Behave yourself or you're in for public flaying. ;)

Reptilian Feline

Maybe it should change colour when you get higher up, and start flashing when you reach the top.

"Going to server" -Dennis has the same problem I do. I can't write 'serve' or 'form' without typing 'server' or 'forum', heh. I know what you meant :D As you said, it helps the moderators know, and it organizes how and when a member will be banned, based on their actions.

As I said, it needs some tweaks. I believe that people should know what the warning system is, how it works, what happens if they break the rules, etc. So this needs to be worked on.

That is basically it. That's the hack, you can read more about it there, but in general, that gives you the basic idea, as it came out of the box.

That is, beyond helping moderators know that someone had been warned. So is it Dense or Dennis? Now you have me confused!

I think the warning system is a good idea, it could help unsuspecting vicitims be wary of who they are dealing with. Kinda like the ebay stars system.

I vote that we just use them as synonyms

Grrrrrrrrr unfair!

I was warned once (for being dumb) - but that was before the new system! What a waste of a good warning :)

Obviously I see the warning on everyone's post but not this one. Also, there's no Quick Reply Box.

You know... I jusr realized something, and perhaps the rest of you are as dumb as me...

My cookies are saved from www.webhostingtalk.com so if you don't use the www your login won't be saved.
The link is without the www and the warning level isn't viewable if your're not logged in. Try adding the www to the link and see what happens...
