Hi,

server that I thought was going to get more use. It has been sitting on
CPU 1 IDLE: 99%
CPU 2 IDLE: 99% for the past 9 months. In other words, I don't use it at all.

Its a dual 1.8 ghz, 1gb ram, 60 gb hd, and has a 512k line. Server is colocated at Marlin eSourcing.

My question: What can I do with it? I'm thinking of getting involved in a little hosting, but I really don't have the time to get deep in it. Would there be a possibility of selling reseller accounts on it? This way I would not have to get too involved in the marketing end, and would not require as much time as 100 $9.99/month accounts.

I would just like to get a little use out of this server, but not looking to go full blown out in web hosting. Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks,

Zak

Why don't you host your own site there?

I have other space on other servers, so I'd rather host ratemyhost.com and my other hosting related sites on those. I do host nexads.com on that server.

Ask someone to help run a "hosting biz". So you don't need to learn :D what control pannel is installed?

You seem to have more cpu than what your bw will really provide for. With that little bandwidth, you can't really do much on it. The best really is to use it for yourself, or perhaps you can do some charity and help host some worthy sites. But still your cpu is overkill for the bw.

Not really.
You need time to market your services to potential resellers.
You need time to support your resellers.

Never start a business without being serious about it.

If you are planning to make the best out of your baby for reseller hosting.
Add tons of ram and maybe get rid or add another 60 gb (ide?) into it.
A scsi/raid solution will be nice too if its within budget.

I think if it was running NIX, you can easily pop 400+ moderate sized hosting accounts onto it. (Just get an unlimited license from cp guys at plesk or other)

Investment will come back in time..... hopefully.
