Please suggest cheap places to colocate tower systems. Looking for 100GB+ bandwidth.

Thanks!

Define cheap. Most towers are 4/5u when on their side, that means 4x the space of a 1u system, so expect to pay at least 3x the price for space in most cases which is around $25-50/u.

Cheap as in cheapest few available considering the request! :)

And yes, you may pm your own offer to me! ;)

It's against the forum rules to advertise in here, or by pm in here usually, but i can tell you, we're by no means cheap in our new location at over $25/u, which i'm sure you'll receive offers far below as many people have connections in "office" data centers instead of fully equipped facilities.

AWWM.com is probably your best bet. $100 a month with 100GB of traffic.

fastservers (http://www.fastservers.net/co-location/index.shtml) maybe? Their site says 1U - 4U Rack Space

why don't you check out fastservers.net? I believe their 1U-4U colo including 512Kbps bandwith is only $88/month. And it's not cogent too, I believe.

my apology, I did not see that reply.

If you provide your own rack shelving, then you may sit your server safely on it. I don't see how the server will fall ...

FastServers does not accept towers due to liability. It's kind of a hazard since all servers are rackmounted and are secured. A tower is not secured and could fall or be knocked over easily.

They also take up a lot of room. As stated earlier, it would be any where from 4u to 5u (in some cases 6u). That a good chunk of real estate that is sitting on a shelf that is not secured.

Also, Hurricane Electric might not allow towers either. FastServers has a lot of racks there and the data center might not allow it.

Hope that helps.

You might want to check out linuxwebnet.com if you want a tower co-lo. I used them for about a year and I had pretty good luck. I had a few billing issues with them (not their fault or mine...it got outsourced), but overall I'd give them an 8 out of 10. After they got their billing resolved, everything was fine.

Now, you might want to think about picking up a new 4u case at Ebay. They are selling there (brand new) for roughly $70.00. That is where I got mine. I found an ebay store and bought it. Then you could move all your equipment into it and send it on over to FastServers.

I hope this helps. If you need any help, etc. just PM me. Thanks and have a great day!

EDIT: Slight grammar error. :)

you can pick up a 2u case without power supply for < $100 at places like www.superpcparts.com which we've used before. Standard equipment will fit into such a case, without any modifications, granted you cant have more then 2-3 pci cards because of the limited riser support in 1-2u chassis, but they work just fine. *most* 2u cases are sexy too, which towers are not (added benefit if you have to look at 'em all day).

Thanks!

Search the Specials forum for bitwasher - I think he's got some space left.
