View Full Version : Can you recommand a registar, thanks.
Hi, everybody.
Please recommand a good registar, I want it has faster support and less updating time when I change the nameservers.
I am using oneandone right now, so tired of it.
Thanks.
redmeds 06-28-2009, 11:34 AM My two primary registrar's are:
name.com
namecheap.com
with a few domains at godaddy.
All are good registrar's.
I have been really digging namecheap because they have 24/7 live chat. Depending on the technical nature of your request, you may end having a support ticket issued, but at least the immediacy of speaking with someone eases that "how long do I have to wait" feeling.
UnderHost 06-28-2009, 12:26 PM Dynadot.com, support staff is awesome and end user easy to use.
Kayleigh 06-28-2009, 12:31 PM Take a look here (http://www.cheapestdomains.org/)
thanks.
if I start to tranfer, usually it takes 5days to be done. I wonder if I can still use the domains(right now these domains point to some sites) during this time. is there any downtime?
:)
HostcrateCEO 06-28-2009, 02:01 PM i am currently using luckyregister.com and its fast on nameserver changes. the support hasn't really been used but other than a domain transfer a while back. they are cheaper than godaddy and a few others registrars that i have come across but that is who i have and use for like 6 domains currently.
Omer Farooq 06-28-2009, 02:55 PM godaddy.com or if you have good budget then netsol.com can be a good option.
jstanden 06-28-2009, 02:56 PM Other than their ridiculously gimmicky website and ordering process, I haven't had any issues with GoDaddy for the several years I've used them. New domains are usually pingable within a couple minutes. Nameserver changes have been within an hour (and most of that was probably due to DNS caching in my local upstream).
agentscarn 06-28-2009, 03:28 PM I like name.com if you want private whois. I've moved my best names there.
Namecheap.com and GoDaddy.com have $6.99 domain transfers. GoDaddy does have a lot of upselling on their site, but they are usually the most inexpensive.
Dynadot.com has a great user interface & is popular with domaineers.
Those are the registrars that I use and recommend.
thanks.

As long as you don't change your nameservers during the transfer there won't be any downtime. I'ver personally favored GoDaddy and Name.com for my domains.

Thanks, I changed my nameserves, have to wait and wait to be done well. After finishing, I will transfer to somewhere.
Right Hosting 06-29-2009, 06:20 AM I find Godaddy and MyDomain.com both good at updating name servers quickly. One thing I have found that will slow it down for your own view is if you actually visit the website before you update, wait until 10 minutes after you have changed the name severs and the site should show up on the new ones using these two registers. This is something to do with your own ISP caching the sites.
koolnhot 06-29-2009, 06:54 AM I have used enom.com, godaddy.com and name.com so I would recommend all of them, enom was the best support I had ever recd. in them.
FlyingWay 06-29-2009, 07:12 AM I used misk.com and I find very good
ReadyRick 06-29-2009, 07:30 AM I'm surprised that no one has mentioned it thus far, but I highly recommend NetEarthOne. They are the best, in my opinion. Their rates are competitive and their one-on-one customer support is second to one.

Agreed. They are pretty good with their pricing, however NEO is usually more known with resellers then selling domains directly.

I also use luckyregister.com. They are ok for me.
Disrelation 01-22-2010, 12:51 AM NameCheap.com is the best domain register and I would highly recommend them, they have been nothing but great to me over the past few years.

Generally speaking when a registrar receives nameserver updates from a client, they are submitted immediately to the corresponding registry.
It's up to the registry to decide the frequency of pushing out those nameserver updates..
So regardless of the registrar you choose, you'll most likely be waiting the same amount of time for nameserver changes to take effect.

Nice observation! ;)
sharkylagoon 01-24-2010, 05:56 PM I think the best one is GoDaddy, it has good control panel and some good discounts.
