View Full Version : Web hosting reselling market in the UK
dungho 06-26-2009, 10:41 PM Hello,
I intend to start my web hosting reseller business in the UK, but worry about choosing the best hosting provider. Could anyone please suggest to me.
Many thanks!
njoker555 06-26-2009, 11:04 PM do you want the reseller provider to be based in the UK or have servers in the UK? if it's the latter then you'll have to look around the resellers offers section and browse around - I personally don't have any exp with UK based hosts but I'm sure you'll be able to find something good sooner or later.
any idea on specs you require or your budget?
darkeden 06-26-2009, 11:14 PM innohosting is a bit expensive but from what I have seen so far there great. not sure about many other hosts
dungho 06-27-2009, 12:54 AM Thanks in advanced for your replies!
I am researching reseller program of Fasthosts. Could anyone please give me some thoughts about this hosting provider?
-Edward- 06-27-2009, 08:49 AM My own experience of FastHosts is that, yeah they market this "great" package for £50 per month but the things you'd expect to come standard you need to pay through the nose for and it soon becomes a very expensive reseller package and the support isn't all that great.
wbacky 06-27-2009, 10:57 AM If you want a reseller hosting with servers in the UK I would check out HostNine they have servers located in several places throughout the world.
DATARTIM 06-27-2009, 11:18 AM The best way is to try and build up a list of key features that you need and to find hosts that match your needs.
FastHosts aren't my cup of tea but that's not to say some people haven't had success with them in the past.
fishforcarp 06-27-2009, 02:29 PM Have a look at EZPZHosting (http://ezpzhosting.co.uk) I have a reseller account with them and am very well satisfied. One of my domains hosted there is pleasurefishing.com
Looking at the offers section I see they are currently doing a half price promotion.
dhcart 06-27-2009, 07:08 PM I recommend Hostdime for good uptime, rich features and fast support. Also you can search reviews about hosting companies that you found on http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php
CyberHostPro 06-30-2009, 05:39 AM Hi,
Are you still looking for a provider? you have not updated this thread?
HTTP404 06-30-2009, 06:20 AM I recommend Hostdime for good uptime, rich features and fast support. Also you can search reviews about hosting companies that you found on http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php
I second that, I used a reseller package to manage some of my personal sites, at at the moment if you pay monthly and visit the .co.uk site there's a promotion offering 99% off your first month, you can get setup with the reseller, private name servers and WHMCS all for £0.31, its a great way to start out.
dungho 06-30-2009, 08:11 PM Thanks you,
I determined to choose Fasthosts as my provider at the end.
As a developer, I am working on my own infrastructure including a private label website for promoting and a customer control panel. However I wonder they are not enough for running my business. Do you think so?
I also think about reselling hypersubmit for search engine submission on my system. Is it good to do that?
HTTP404 07-01-2009, 12:23 PM FastHosts :O. I haven't looked but do they offer cPanel, if they have there own custom control panel your end users may find it difficult to use.
Oh and also the UK reseller is better than fast hosts, it includes unlimited ssl and a billing system.
Dan_EZPZ 07-01-2009, 03:58 PM Fasthosts do indeed use their own custom control panel. This can cause huge problems if you ever want to migrate away.
Performing a cPanel to cPanel transfer is extremely easy and takes no time at all, however transferring from a custom control panel will take a very long time and will result in the loss of some data such as email.

Hypersubmit will probably get you into a few directories, but when it comes to places such as google, you'll find it's a lot of hard work :agree:

And you'll have to use their billing system, and like Dan has said if you want to migrate any accounts it will cause problems, so best avoid like i said, look for a cpanel reseller.
dungho 07-02-2009, 01:51 AM Indeed, Fasthosts is using their own control panel. They also provide APIs for white label site integrates with their system.
However, I wonder whether my customer can use cPanel instead if I choose Fasthosts?
Dan_EZPZ 07-02-2009, 07:06 AM Nope, if they don't have cPanel installed on their servers, you can't use it. I've never heard of FastHosts offering cPanel so you're stuck with their own panel.
Ninjapanther-Greg 07-02-2009, 09:38 AM You want resellers with server base in the uk my experience would say use a us company read reviews on this forum they are mostly better.

What makes you say that?
tmcpro 07-03-2009, 09:34 PM most people are right when they say that you should go with a host in the UK since most your clients are there. I would suggest looking into even 1&1, im pretty sure they have a database there.
Deehem 07-03-2009, 10:22 PM http://www.Webhosting.uk.com are excellent!
leopard2 07-06-2009, 12:15 PM It takes more than 20 seconds to open their website. the data center is not in UK
Brian-de-vie 07-06-2009, 12:57 PM It takes more than 20 seconds to open their website. the data center is not in UK
Just to clarify my understanding[which may be wrong]:
Webhosting.uk.com has datacentre at bluesquare - UK
1&1 [UK] have 'Euro' data centre
leopard2 07-06-2009, 01:28 PM it is near london.
now speed is ok
CyberHostPro 07-07-2009, 08:34 AM Hi

Isn't against forum rules to comment on a competitors service?
