had an owned v2 lisence for some time, since lost everything from vaserve, im unable to download it again without paying.. this isnt right? surely it should be allowed to download the last version that was released when my account was active?
is this just lazy owners??
if so Selling WHMAP v2 Owned Lisence..
You probably don't want to hear this, but why didn't you keep a backup of the script? I have copies of every script I ever bought (unless sold, then the copies are destroyed), and every version and patch of it. ;)
At any rate, they should offer you the older version, as long as they have archived copies and you can show proof you bought it. It's only fair. I assume you contacted Brandee and asked?

Pretty common practice to disable all downloads once the support and downloads period has expired.
WHMCS does it too, I think Clientexec still might (certainly used to) and Modernbill used to as well.
I've never seen a traditional software publisher with physical disks replace the disk or software if you lose it - so I'm not sure why people selling digital software should be kept to a higher standard!

Microsoft, Adobe and Jasc (now owned by Corel, I believe) have done so for me, and proof of purchase was all they required. As for disabling downloads or purchased versions because support has expired, I hadn't considered that, but I see no harm in allowing the version he'd bought and was up to date on when his license expired being made available. Up to the vendor, I suppose.

You geet replacement disks from all major Publisher in case of loss or defect - at least here in germany - you also get a download replacement even if your support has ended - ofc you dont get the latest version but the latests within your support contract.
That is common used practice and in some cases required by national laws.
Did you just try and ask for a replacement?

I believe you have to have valid support and updates to sell it; though that may not apply, as I can't honestly remember. ;)
In my opinion, the software you purchased should be available to you even if you have expired updates, though the version should reflect the latest release at the time of the support expiry. If you fight your position, I'm sure they would allow you to have an older copy that you had when you still had updates.
Support and updates means expired support and updates; but it doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to use the product or obtain your previous version.

Have you heard back from WHMAP - I'd be very surprised if they didn't accommodate you.
Regarding laws - very many of the type you are quoting are consumer protection laws - businesses (and what else would you want WHMAP for) are expected to have the intelligence and resources to check and understand the contract they are entering into.
