I had just about decided to just use NameCheap as a Registrar instead of going the reseller route. I transferred one domain over to test things out and got an offer for their hosting in my email confirmation/receipt! I saw the bit about using a special URL to link from my site so customers won't see the hosting advertised on theirs, but if they are going to get an email pitch it seems just as bad :( Has anyone else noticed this? I emailed NC as well just to see if it was a goof.

From what I understand from my developer, the "http://www.namecheap.com/?r=t" link will remove all hosting advertising from your customers view. I will double check with him in the morning as he is sleeping now :-) . If this is not the case, rest assured it will be corrected.

BTW, you are speaking about the email reciepts that are sent out when a domain is purchased correct? We do not send out any other form of emails in case there's any confusion.

The advertisement has been completely removed from the reciepts. Thanks for bringing the matter to our attention.

Your response to this is impressive! Yes, it was in the email receipt that I was talking about - NOT any form of spam. I am happy that you took care if it as I think using you will be a better alternative for me at this point than becomming a reseller.

As a suggestion, I believe there are probably a lot of hosting resellers that feel as I do that making money on the domains is not as important as having a Registrar you can trust, with decent rates AND some sort of system for automatically adding my nameservers to the signup if they come from my site. So far I have only seen this in the reseller plans but I think you would do very well to develop this and adverise the fact here. Even passing it in the querystring would be fine, as it's not secure info. What do you think?
