A. I must of been drunk out of my mind (Even though I don't drink) and forgot I signed up with your people.

B. I stumbled and bumped my head causing severe amnesia like affects.

C. The least likely choice I'm sure, you're just making all this stuff.

I figured someone was mining the memberlist here because this forum is the only place I use this username (which was in their 'signup' email) and it was also to info@clookhost.com which is a non existant email address!

I didn't reply but let the mods here know so they must have banned the URL :)

User anon's site seems to resolve to the same IP as the forum IP. I'm guessing this is your spammer, or they know who is. User Anon there, not here.

He hasn't spammed their forums, so you've lost "respect" for him for no reason. Spamming on a forum is posting commercial offers where you're not supposed to. He hasn't done that. It's too easy to become self-righteous, all he's done is fight fire with fire, he should be commended.

I was going based on what he said, I havent been to the forums since last night and hadn't seen what he did. After looking at what he did, IMO, he's still dropped down to the same level as the owner of that forum.

As for the respect, I actually do start off respecting most of the "newer" members here. DB posts have been quite helpful in some instances; so yes I did have a little respect for him as a member here. But now that he's gone ahead and done something that really doesnt fix the problem as a whole; well that just makes me look down on him.

What is posting nonsense on every forum of that board going to do? You really should try an alternative means of stopping SPAM; like emailing the spammer until he acknowledges his mistake, or reporting him to his provider (which is what I'd do).

wow - all this because I wanted anyone who visits them to know what idiots they are.....and because I was hoping to get banned from the forum. Like an idiot, I clicked on the link and became a member. :mad:

As I stated, I don't normally (only this one time, actually) do that type of thing, but they really went over the edge with this tactic.

Yes, he's there too. Username is same as forum URL there. I wouldn't mind being contacted so much, but to register users on your forum for them and generate the 'welcome & confirmation email'... errrr... no.

They have almost 500 members, but 25 posts (seems first post was 08-06-2002 and no one posted until 10-22-2002 (guessing he started registering people right about then).

500 phoney members doesn't make a viable discussion forum, but I guess he'll have to find that out the hard way and piss people off doing it.

don't worry me neither.. but then I'm brand new and hide my email address so that *might* (sarcasm here) have something to do with it. Still it means you me (and it sounds like DB can sit around together and feel unloved.)

But this reminds me of something my mom forwarded me today that I thought was really amusing (and frighteningly tempting.. fortunately I'm too lazy to do such a thing.) :

Start mix and matching you snail mail spam. After all those pre-paid envelopes are almost never pre-addressed with your address, just theirs. You know, take those ads to get rich quick and send them to the credit card companies offering you a new card.. send the credit card ad to the magazine company. Even if it's not something I'd do I have to admit it is an entertaining thought.

Sorry completely off topic.. this just got me thinking about it.

But really, is this a common problem here? I was sort of on the line about keeping my email hidden, but if this is common it sounds like I made the right choice?

Actually, the forum doesn't display your email address, so even if you choose not to keep it hidden, it still hides it. Users only get a form and will only know your address if you choose to write back. You can click my email icon to see what users see with unhidden email.
