ALL registrar transfers for gTLDs include renewal for another year. I too am curious to know who doesn't.

Who are they? Possibility is there if you are not complying to any transfer process, you may not get an extension.. but not on registrar dependent.

There are a few in my country that do this unfortunately, and local customers do fall into such traps.
