I have a few questions regarding back ordering services.

A service such as Snapnames.

Can you pay by paypal?

Do you need to provide billing information before you can back order a name?

If someone else has also back ordered it do all the people, who've back ordered the get charged the fee?

I know the process is:

Back order name, it may be caught and if no others have back ordered you get it?

Back order name, it may be caught and others might have also back ordered it. Therefore, it goes into auction and you bid for a certain time limit and the winner gets it??

Just wanted to know the process a bit better.

Thanks. :)

General tendancy is, you need to pay in advance. If you get it, the amount is utilized. If you are not lucky enough (you do not get it), the amount can be utilized for backordering some other domain.

What if more than 2 parties have back ordered it? Do both parties get charged?

I"d backorder the domain at the original registrar if you want to get it back. Godaddy for example claims they only sell one backorder on a domain if they are the registrar.

Doesn't mean someone else on another registrar can't place a backorder on it. The policy should state the refund policy - I know with godaddy if it fails to get the domain you may pass the credit onto another backorder.

Yes, as the payment is supposed to be made while placing an order. The actual backorder, may however, take place at a later stage.

But let's say 2 people back ordered a name and it goes into a bid? Do I STILL get charged if I don't bid or lose the bid?

Or do they refund me the credit to backorder another domain name?

You can get the best answer to this query from the company you backorder with.
