View Full Version : Mobile WHT Issues
speckl 06-15-2009, 11:31 PM Has anyone else experienced issues with WHT on a Blackberry device?
The links at the top don't work and I can't get to the forums index to surf around. Also, when I try to retrieve my PM's I get a login error. However, I can post on a thread after I login, just can't get to the PM's.
I just wanted to see if anyone else has had issues.
Maybe some screen shots of the devices on the site would be cool as well.
Thanks!
Yeah the links don't work, and I get occasional login errors too. However, that's on a Sony Ericsson phone.
SoftWareRevue 06-16-2009, 09:14 AM Thanks, guys. We'll look into this.
speckl 06-16-2009, 03:55 PM I can login to PMs now, but if I have a long PM I cannot scroll to the bottom of that message to add my reply.
I know you guys are fixing things, just trying to do my part in helping.
forgueam 07-07-2009, 09:35 AM Can you give me some specifics regarding the problems? When you say the links don't work, does that mean they throw an error, or just don't do anything?
forgueam 07-07-2009, 09:54 AM Just got my hands on a Blackberry - it looks like the full site loads fine, except that there is a large black void between the top menu and the actual forum listings. I'm trying to track that down now.
Mr. Obvious 07-07-2009, 10:37 AM Would it be possible to just revert back to wap.wht for those that miss it? Even the mobile skin is relatively slow on my BB because it now renders css styles, etc.
The site looks fine for me. I'm running a BlackBerry with 4.7.x however.
forgueam 07-07-2009, 03:00 PM Ok, I've installed an alternate mobile style that should be applied for Blackberry user agents. Let me know if it works any better.

Looks good! :) It is easier to navigate then the previous theme.

That's sexy.
MikeDVB 07-07-2009, 05:09 PM Looks great on my iPhone. How do you make it detect the device?
MikeDVB 07-07-2009, 05:12 PM The only issue I have is that when I am on my iPhone and I click "normal version" on the bottom it just reloads the mobile edition. I'm on it now and I want to use the full version :-(
victor9191 07-07-2009, 07:48 PM The site seems to be loading perfectly fine on my iTouch?

Same here, it works on my iPhone and my brother's iPod Touch

The mobile theme works great - but try scrolling to the bottom and touching "Normal Site" - it just goes right back to the mobile theme again.
Even though Safari on my iPhone 3G S can handle the full version of WHT *very* well I am unable to access it on the go due to this limitation.
This is why I have two responses to this thread above instead of one because I cannot multi-quote on the mobile version.
forgueam 07-08-2009, 02:21 PM Yeah, I think that the plugin we are using to detect the user agent overrides the action you take by clicking the "normal version" link. I am looking into a work around.
Hang tight!

No problem - I would browse WHT a lot more if I could access the full site but unfortunately I can't while I'm on the go :)
No rush, just whenever you get to it.

If only my boss were that laid back... :)
MikeDVB 07-08-2009, 03:22 PM Haha, well I'm not your boss :)
Syfonic 07-09-2009, 11:05 PM I have found several glitches in the mobile version of WebHostingTalk.com.
1. The premium/corporate pages do not load. They appear as blank pages.
2. When I select to use the Normal Version of WHT instead of the Mobile Version it does not let me. It just reloads the page.
I am using the iPhone 3GS (newest version). I will post other glitches I find in regards to the Mobile Version as I find them if you would like...
andrewklau 07-16-2009, 09:50 AM Interested to see when this will be done :)
I had login problems with my Windows Mobile Phone using Opera. I tried webhostingtalk.mobi but it redirected to leaseweb...
A Windows Mobile App would be nice :)

Yep I have the same issue with my iPhone.
Also, if you go to a thread with 3+ pages sometimes there is a last page link in the thread nav, but most of the time there is not, which can be a bit of a pain if you have previously viewed the the thread before, and just need to get to the last page to see the latest replies.
Something else, but a minor point, if you post/reply using your iPhone, then view the post later on (via your pc), you find that your signature is not showing.
