Brian-de-vie 06-13-2009, 01:07 PM You simply can't beat 'word of mouth' Dave_webb 06-13-2009, 01:13 PM There is post on advertising methods almost every week here on wht. Just search the "Running a webhosting business" section. MikeDVB 06-13-2009, 01:45 PM Provide excellent service and then ask your clients to write reviews - just make sure that you don't specifically ask for "good reviews" you need the reviews to be brutally honest good or bad so that the review is actually useful. If you have a decent client base, offering your existing clients incentives for bringing their friends, family, acquaintances online will also go a long way as long as they are really happy with your service. ldcdc 06-13-2009, 01:49 PM You simply can't beat 'word of mouth' And for that to pick up you generally need a decently sized customer base. Here we come full circle. :) Babushka99 06-13-2009, 05:33 PM And for that to pick up you generally need a decently sized customer base. Here we come full circle. :) Agreed. But get those few customers and ask them for referrals usually works (at least it does work in our case). Word of mouth is a great mechanism. Brian-de-vie 06-13-2009, 06:11 PM And for that to pick up you generally need a decently sized customer base. Here we come full circle. :) All you need is a 'decently sized mouth'. Absolutely every person you come into contact with is either a potential client, or is in touch with potential clients. So, getting your hair cut, in the gym, at the club, at the railway station, at the resturant, at your cousins 21st etc. etc. tell everyone what you offer, word of mouth business marketing, should spread like 'dirty rumours' if you keep at it. Omer Farooq 06-14-2009, 12:07 AM thank you all for nice advises there. PaulM 06-15-2009, 09:28 AM ...and when you do get customers set up some sort of referral scheme that rewards them for rewarding new customers. IMeanWebHosting 06-15-2009, 10:20 AM Local Local Local. Talk to as many people as you possibly can in your area asking them if they've ever wanted a website. You'll be amazed at the results you get, and best of all, it's 100% free advertising. :) andrewklau 06-15-2009, 09:38 PM Word of mouth gets my vote. Esspically when it comes to web design. railto 06-15-2009, 09:48 PM Word of mouth gets my vote. Esspically when it comes to web design. i agree, and also with local advertising. Every so often i go into an area and drop out a thousand or so postcard style flyers and usually get a good few responses. Another thing i do is walk around businesses that dont advertise a website and drop in a letter and flyer, ask to speak to the person in charge of IT if available, if not arrange to call back in a few days. If they dont call me within 3 days then i call them, i get quite a bit of work this way, sure it costs time to be out on the streets and money to put the stuff together, but a good inkjet printer on quality gloss/matte paper and there ya go. 314Hosting 06-16-2009, 02:26 AM Nice tips i found here :) As i am newbie in marketing so it will help me a lot. Sometimes it's better to start with the MD/owner rather than the IT man, after all at the end of the day, you want to be 'selling' to they guy with the purse strings. Some IT guys will wast a lot of your time because they can't get the money allocated. The MD can always refer you down & be kept in the loop, but the IT man refering up & asking for $$££s can p1ss of some boses. The most important advice I would recommend you to follow is to provide high service quality throughout all the time. Order email marketing service specifying web development companies as targeting audience. honeyhosting 06-23-2009, 01:13 PM Look at other onling free advertising sites. Like craig's list just an example. |
