This might not be the right forum but since there are many hosts in this I thought I would ask.

I have been quite happy with my host's service this past year. I understand that every now and then my site will be slow or maybe go down. No problem.

But today my site went down and then I was told my directory was empty. The provider then rebuilt my directory with old files from backup files.

My question is, what could have happened to make all my files disappear. I used the site at like 1pm and then by 3:30 it was down and out. I didn't touch anything. I don't understand how everything could just disappear.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Welp, the service being out and slow sometimes just could mean the server was overloaded/ISP was down/apache was crashing/ many other things....

As for your directory being empty, their harddrive most likely crashed or had some other problems, and they had backups to restore it from, which is a good thing, hehe.
