I've seen something called Personal Control Panel 4.0 Does anyone have any info on where I can look into getting price for the control panel or another one that is affordable. parawing742 11-07-2002, 12:24 AM Personal Control Panel 4 (or PCP4) is a custom panel used only by CommuniTech.Net. It's better than a lot of panels out there and works great but is only available with their servers. http://www.communitech.net/products/virtual/unix/pcp/ UH-Matt 11-07-2002, 06:44 AM wow that is a nice panel! JonB 11-07-2002, 08:04 AM Yeah it is and it's been in use for quite a long time, it's stable and very rich in features. I'm surprised they haven't released it yet for other people to use. Neo3Net 11-07-2002, 10:10 PM They built it for themselves for a reason. To create a monopoly on it. If everyone wants that panel, and they only have it, then people will have to go with them. Its a a fine biz plan. rusko 11-08-2002, 01:45 AM hmm, communitech are lame. here is proof Do not be fooled by other providers who use "free" operating systems. Linux, FreeBSD, and other such operating systems are free for a reason: they are not true, commercial web hosting platforms. The price tag makes these operating systems very popular, not the reliability. Furthermore, these operating systems are more prone to security issues, since the underlying code to these operating systems is "open source", or available to anyone. As such, security problems are easily found by others, making anyone running these operating systems vulnerable. These operating systems run on Intel or AMD systems, making the overall hardware and software very inexpensive, and unreliable for multi-user, web hosting purposes! Sun Microsystems authored their own UNIX operating system f the relationship of open-source to security has been hashed out many times and im not going to get into an argument over that. but perhaps they should update the page, since solaris is now - yes, you guessed it, [shudder] open source. UH-Matt 11-08-2002, 06:23 AM damn, i thought that company looked ok until you pointed that out to me.. very lame :( JonB 11-08-2002, 06:42 AM They are now owned by Interland Inc. - bought out in Feb of this year. |
