View Full Version : Domain name evaluation

I'm fully aware that a domain is only worth "what somebody will pay for it".
Although I'm sure some domain names are more desirable than others.
Anyway, it recently came to light that my company owns more domains than I originally thought, this all came to light when the renewal notifications came through.
Most we actually let expire, they were registered for projects that never came to light and were rather "our product specific".
However a few came to light which I did renew, mainly because an ex-employee paid a fair few £££ for one of them.
The domains in question were:

cifi.com
cifi.co.uk
cifi.net
cifi.org

It is the complete set so to speak.
I mainly kept them because of the short domain name and the "sound alike" to sci-fi.
Anyway, the company I work for would like to try and get some of the money back we paid for cifi.com
I'm thinking the whole set would probably sell better.
Are these potentially desirable domain names?

We also have:

asns.com
asns.co.uk

Again, only kept because they were four lettered domains.
Really interested in any kind of input.

Well, they do have a sci-fi sorta sound to them, which might add a few clams to an auction. You could also consider:

http://www.google.com/search?q=cifi
ASNS American Society for Nutritional Sciences
http://www.google.com/search?q=ASNS

Just poking around to see what interest there might be in the domain in terms of abbreviations, etc.

four letter domains are not generally worth anything above registration, unless it is a word or an acronym for something, like NASA etc

Every domain is worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay. I've sold COV*.com for $500.

my point was, the fact that it is a four letter domain alone, does not give the domain any special value. If there is a buyer interested, then of course it would be worth more.
