I currently run a forum and blog for community administrators. We are making a huge effort to expand our resources and offerings, and one of our new branches will be reseller hosting.

One of the things I'm not sure of is who my target audience should be. Since my niche is forum and community management, should I offer plans and packages that specifically and exclusively target forum owners? Or should I remain totally broad to any and all webmasters?

It's always best to try and find a niche in hosting.

If your natural niche are forums, then it would make sense to gear up your hosting for this.

Thanks, Tristan. I was fairly confident that this would be the general recommendation.

You're welcome :) It does usually make sense to target a niche, since hosting is obviously quite a competitive field.

Good luck to you.

Agreed; and if you later want to expand, a nice way to do it would be to identify another specific niche or two and target them. It's a lot easier to market to a niche than to a market of "the whole world". :)
