Hey, I know there are a few threads on hostrocket, but I was just wondering what people still thought of them. They seem pretty reliable and I have heard good things. Mainly the price/performance ratio seems pretty good... Any opinions?

The only reason I had posted the transfer and stuff was people seem to point out it's a too good to be true thing. I don't want to have to move my site all the time so I just wanted to make sure I wouln't be in a situation where if I used 15Gb a month that suddenly my site wouln't be acceptable (This site has gotten me so paranoied). That's all... I've already used the search but just was seening if anyone had anything to add....

have you tried looking at hostpackets own forums? there doesn't look to be too many happy customers in there!

Please re-read the topic again. I don't see anything about HostPACKET.

Hi Cywyn :)

I'm currently a HR customer and I have lately been very pleased with their service. Tickets are responded to within minutes (even though you dont mark them urgent). I noticed in the past few days HR has had two periods of downtime for 15 mins each (at least thats what easymonitor.com claims) but you probably would want to forgive them for that ;) besides, there's a 14 day mone back guarantee, so why not give it a try? You won't regret it AFAIK :)

Well, I've not been a HR customer in a long time (never will be either), but when I was with them about 1 year ago it was a nightmare. My sites were down over 50 times a day, support was slow and I'd get the same run around; "Everything appears fine", sure it does when you respond 20 hrs later ....

Anyways, I moved the discussions to here to talk to others about it and got called a liar by about 3 of their support staff, so I pasted all the tickets I got to show people who was really lieing, needless to say, my account was terminated shortly after. ;-)

I'm not sure if they've changed since then, but if they haven't and you run a busy site I wouldn't recommend them at all. Price isn't as good as it sounds when your site won't stay up, you can run faster then data is transfered, and you get accused of lieing by support.

All in all, a dream company.

Not a sound endorsement to me.

They had their problems, and the've gotten them resovled. What do you want me to say then? "I am very pleased with their service". Ok, have that.

Bottom line is I recommend that you (Cywyn) go try them out :)

Then why post then as your input is about as helpful as a chocolate teapot.

It really kills me when an "individual" will continue to criticise a company when they have absolutely no idea of what their services are like lately. It happens to us from a small group and I see it happen alot to HR which is sad, madddening and extremely annoying. Please think before you post, it will save you alot of grief a short time down the track.

ever heard the term "you get what you pay for?", well that is HostRocket!

yeah you get a lot of space and bandwidth for $10/month, but you will also experience a **** load of downtime.

so, if you do not mind that, go for it.

He asked for opionons; he got it. Yes, you should think before you post, because your post was useless, just about as useless as 95% of the posts on this board.

I'm quite annoyed you felt the need to post to this thread without stateing anything on topic, lets assume you've been a HR customer some time, and if not, why the hell are you posting here? Get over it, he asked for something and got it. Take a break from this forum and you'll cool down a bit.

Afterall, it's not like I didn't state when I was with hostrocket, perhaps you got a bit "annoyed" or my post "killed you" too much for you to see that? I guess so, either way, that's my opionon, which I'm entitled to have. If you have further issues with all my 25-27 useless posts then you can private message me about it, this isn't relating to the thread so there's no reason to "annoy you" with more posts, enough said. Be a good boy and flame me all you want now. ;-)

BTW, if you have a "small group" of people talking bad about your services, what's that have to do with this? Perhaps you need to do a better job ? Learn new things? Of course, I don't care, nor do I have a reason to, nor does it really relate to this thread either. If you give bad support or whatever and people talk bad about you, that's your own fault, you don't need to stick up for other people because you get ragged on.

The point that you so intelligently missed was that your post is pointless as it doesn't reflect what HR is like these days. I don't know what they are like, to tell the truth - but any service can change in one year.

And the point about how your kind of BS related to us has nothing to do with bad support, (it was completely unrelated to that) it's about people such as yourself that flame companies needlessly when you have no idea what their service is like NOW.

Anyhow, I guess the latest trend is to report people such as yourself to the mods so I guess that is what has to done. ;)

How boring NexDog, I want to see opinions by customers, not a flame fest.

Then the ensuing HR spin, then the arguments, the beatings, bannings and repetitive points.

Haha. Of course you don't know what their service is like, because you don't have no business in the thread. I'm so sick of your kind with 500+ posts posting here and there like they run this place. You don't run anything buddy, don't act like you do.

"My BS" wow, a bit defensive? The way you insult people I'm sure you do just have that bad of a business that people talk bad about you, certainly your attitude shows you're all of what ... 15?

Excuse me while I go post to random threads I don't have any information on so I can have a shinny 700+ posts and be so cool like you. Oh no, wait, I need to report you to a moderator because you're upset someone made you look stupid.

Here's a tip (free of charge, since you seem to be taking a business loss from this "bad talk" you brought up); This is the internet kid. Words cannot hurt you. This is a forum, perhaps (unlike you maybe (?)) I don't surf here 24/7, I have a life. I leave the house. I'm not going to get this thread up to 50-100 replies of arguments like the other regulars do.

I'll ask your mommy to sing you a song and give you a hug so you feel a bit better about all this. Never the less, atleast *I* posted something relating to the topic at hand. Granted, it's a bit outdated, never the less it's accurate information. Also, before you (and everyone else) gets all hypocritical, lets see about that "Timmy" oh, sorry, "Timmah" since some people can't seem to spell, lets see if 6 months from now you're going to recommend his service? I doubt you are, what's the difference from this to that? Oh right, you feel sorry for your own problems and felt HR needed a hand from you. Anyways, I think I'll let you ponder that and I'll check back tommorrow for more of your defensive and witty comments that make you feel all tingly and good inside. ;-)

My opionion still stands; I wouldn't recommend HR; I wouldn't recommend TimPD, granted it's been 9 months since I've used him but I guess it's okay with TimPD since 85% of this forum hates him ? Can we say hypocritical ? I think so. Now report me so you can feel you've made someone who made you look stupid be quiet.

P.S. Good luck finding a host to the original thread starter.

Prince may I know if you're presently a HR customer? I'd like to defend HR over here.. There's very minimal downtime, and besides they do have policies on their uptime (can't really recall since it's hardly been a problem). Also if you feel that the server you're hosted on is slow for whatever reason you can ask for a transfer to another one of HR's 40+ servers at any point of time at NO extra cost!

I still strongly recommend HR -- it's worth a try. You always have the 14-day money back guarantee to fall back on ;)

Thanks, I got my notebook and wrote down all your advice. Never know when you will need that paper when out walking in the bush with no toilets in sight. :stickout:

I am a big man. My post count is so large that mere minions look on and tremble when I enter WHT with my mortal entourage and I don't see why you should be different.

Anyhow, for your information and this isn't free of charge, you can pay by PayPal when you have saved the cash. Being argumentative and throwing insults around will only lead to a life of misery. Just think.......peaches. Yes, peaches, aren't they juicy? Haven't you ever eaten a juicy peach and just wanted to shower the world with love? Try it before you respond. :D

You did bring this on yourself. I merely pointed out your post was pointless as the thread starter wanted opinions on HR. Yes, you have an opinion and that is great! But don't you think you need to move on? Yes, you had a bad experience with HR almost a year ago but there's no need to use that one incident to fuel your online forum interactivity.

It seems that you have a large chip on your shoulder about WHT and you seem to despise us regulars who like this community. I apologise to you on behalf us "big boys" for whatever.

I am thirty years old. I have 2 children with one more on the way. I have lived in 4 countries and speak French and Japanese fluently. My Mum is doing great.

Thanks!

These are scary words I still strongly recommend HR -- it's worth a try. You always have the 14-day money back guarantee to fall back on
As with anything, if it takes time to do, and it turns out to be not what you wanted, it isn't worth a try. If uptime and support concern you, go with a host that has a good reputation, in that area, especially if you don't like moving your files aroound, re-setting up email accounts, watching your chargecard for recurring charges and refunds ect.
I used HR once, I wasn't happy. They could be better now, but I wouldn't "try it" again. Anyway, I'm sure HR suits the needs of many, they just didn't do it for me.

HR has been my host for about 6 months now - i was using close to my 20gb bandwidth per month, and over that time, i experienced downtime once i think - and it was for about a day.

their support was brilliant for me - i always got a response within a few hours.

speed was never an issue, and i found that everything ran pretty smoothly. i certainly can't complain.
