Hi,

yesterday I purchased a domain from someone and I am waiting to transfer it to eNom. The problem is to change it to eNom it needs to send a authentication email out to the registered administrator. The person I purchased this domain from has change the email registered with the domain to mine however the changes cant be seen on eNom's whois server. The strange thing is all other whois sites have got the correct information.

Do you know how long it takes before eNom updates it Whois database?

Regards

Better will be you contact enom support directly. They have excellent support.

Thanks for your advice however the A record has updated on the current registrar of the domain so since the site is up I will leave it alone until I see eNom's whois update.

Cheers

It often takes at least 24 to 48 hours for whois info to spread through the entire system fully.

After 72 hours, if the old info is still showing... then I would contact eNom and show them a whois which shows the new info and ask why it's different then what's in they see.

Also, depending on who is the current registrar.. something the "uwhois" (universal whois) is not properly updated by them. For example, godaddy is notorious for this. They don't allow their whois info to be read automatically many times, and so automated transfers will fail and manual intervention must be done by the new registrar. It's a sick way for godaddy to try and keep domains that are leaving their system by basically not allowing the automated approval emails to be sent by the new registrar. :(

I've never had any problems with transferring out from GoDaddy. Usually they complete within an hour if you approve the transfer. (although most of my transfers are in) :)
