Hi.

I will appreciate some information. Recently I tested a script from www.phparena.net called PafileDB. Within 24 hours, my account got cancelled with them saying FXP via their servers is not allowed. (I had link to a file offsite as it is a big file)

I will appreciate help on why this activity might by disallowed (so that I know how to avoid it in future)

Is there any security concerns? Bandwidth issues? (I thought linking offsite will not use their bandwidth)

Thanks.

p.s And lastly anyone knows of a host that won't mind it?

I would contact your host again regarding this issue. The script listed shouldn't be using FXP. FXP would allow you to copy files directly from one server to another...which is not the intent of the script you are speaking of.

Hi dandanfirema

I have the same thoughts. I had emailed them (even before I posted this). However I don't expect fast replies as they terminated my site without warning and my emails took them over 12 hours to respond to.

So is it right that hosts shouldn't mind the script?

Thanks.

I can't speak for all hosts...but we don't. I even introduced one of my customers to it about a week ago based on what he said he would be using his account for.

While I understand the host standpoint, I am a bit miffed that I wasn't even given my site backup (I had asked for it as well) and no explanation was given until I open a support ticket and ask. I had even switch my dns for the domain over. It's a bit infuriarating after a while.

anyway, any host wants to make me an offer? I need about 10gb for about $10 a month (or less). I need a fairly responsive server as I am running scripts (so not those that's with like 5000 customers a server). Space wise I don't need that much.. 50mb is probably enough.
