I pay £22 (~=$35) per month for 512k down 256k up
I have 3 of these lines and they are all unlimited...

For the first time ever the UK seems ok for somethign related to the web!!!!!!

Those damn people in the netherlands get the best deal though.. they get 1-2mbps for the same price as we pay.

We should all add a note that we dont use these personal connections for our webservers before any newbies get concerned :)

please don't get me wrong here, I really have no problem paying for things .. ( well I go without food for a couple of weeks :) what's more important ? )

but it's the rotten, bloody rotten monopoly in australia that gets up my nose

and yes, before everyone jumps in .. I know it's a big big big country and 4/5 of it has no infrastructure for IT outside of the 1/5 and I don't mind paying a bit more as long as my bit more goes towards the other 4/5 somewhere, somehow...

not in some bloody CEO's already unbelievable huge salary

sorry </rant>

SpiritAu .. where ? I'm on 512K ADSL 3gig Peak and 7Gig off Peak (total 10Gig) for $99 however unlimited would be nice.
Unlimited 512k would be even nicer, I get a bit tired of staying up until Midnight just so I can start downloading, then I have to get up before 7am to stop the download otherwise it gets charged at peak time.

Thanks for that SpiritAu.
It turned out to be quite a useful link. I particularly like the fact that there plans use a static ip.

Go iiNet http://www.iinet.net.au/

-or- If you live in WA you could also consider

WestNet - http://www.wn.com.au/
Arachnet - http://www.arachnet.net.au

Only problem we have with iiNet atm is frequest disconnections - but this could be a fault at Telstra... which wouldn't suprise me.

I have a couple of clients with http://www.applecomm.net and they have no complaints.. I'm thinking of switching myself, they have an unlimited package as well, just a little slower on the transfer.

http://www.tpgi.com.au , they charge $19.99/month plus usage fee
Pay As You Go 256v (Metro 256/64K ADSL Connection)
Downloads charged at 15c per MB up to 400MB, thereafter you get 10GB of downloads for FREE, thereafter 5c per MB

Aushosts

Yea if you go through TPG put in my dealer code QLBJC.

"Pay As You Go 256v (Metro 256/64K ADSL Connection)

Not actually that good. $19.99 + 400mb * 15c that

$19.99 + $60 = $79.99 Now that's only Capital city and suburbs.

I would have to get the Metro Max plan

$24.95 + $60 = $84.95 and that's only 257/64K

Currently I get 10G 512K for $99.95

there 512k regional is $39.95 + 300mb @ 15.9

that's

$39.95 + $47.70 = $87.65 for just 300mb
and you have to pay 8c MB after that

Summary ------ To Expensive

Yes.. and also... i have a little problem.. im on that stupid pair gain system (i call it pain gain) which doesnt allow ADSL and telstra refuses to upgrade my line, so im in a bit of trouble, because i want it soooooo bad

Anyways, this is my input:angry:

AussieHosts

Did you go with the Plus plan Robert? Any upgrade charges, or just a straight changeover? I couldn't find this on the site or Whirlpool.

Gary

I submittied on friday, when it was obvious I went 500mb's over (I had my date's mixed up)

So at that time it was $199.95, however they still don't know it's connected, and it still states im on 512 :D

It's a 65 upgrade fee, but now I get 17gb/mth downloads. Tests from netspace ftp is around 120kb/sec

AussieHosts
11-06-2002, 12:00 PM
Sounds tempting. We're lucky if we use 2GB/mth, but the extra speed would be nice. :)

Gary

TheDoctor
