Hello WHT,

On May 26, i received an email from Paypal saying that my account was limited. The reason given was:

"We have observed activity in this account that is unusual or potentially
high risk."

It is important to inform that in 3 years, i never had a single complain at Paypal.

They asked me to send some documents like Photo ID, Proof of Address, etc. At this point, i had two problems:

1) They ask for a bank account in USA. I am not from USA and their website clearly states that you can send/receive payments from a long list of countries, including mine. There is nothing that inform that you must have an USA bank account.

2) They asks for proof of delivery. UPS or other companies tracking number. I offer programming services, so i do not ship anything.

OK, i followed the link Contact US and asked for a solution. It was on May 26. Today i still didn't got any response from them.

What is the point of creating this topic?

1) Ask if someone here know anyone that work on Paypal and can help with this problem. This is the money that i live with, and i need to pay my bills.

2) Spread the story. Suddenly, it seems that the stories on Paypalsucks.com are coming true to me. If you use Paypal, please reconsider it. From my experience, their Customer Service doesn't exist at all.

3) Ask for alternatives. I do not trust Paypal anymore, so i am asking for recommendations of services that i can trust.

I have a sick daughter that need some expensive medicines ( this is relative to a problem that my wife had when she was pregnant ). In order to provide this, i work 14-16 hours per day ( for a company and some free lance jobs ). I can afford the medicines this month, but i am not sure about the next one, if i can't get this money off Paypal.

It is extremely frustating that someone can just take your money like this after you had worked so hard.

If anyone can help me with this, please reply to this topic or send me a PM.

Thanks!

Easy google search http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=paypal+alternative&aq=0&oq=paypal+al&aqi=g10&=Google+Search&=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&fp=2Inaafc1UxE

Also I've seen a lot of people using 2checkout.com.

And if you don't mind telling us what country you are from. You could be in a country like Iran filled with good hard working people and a few bad leaders giving it a bad reputation.

Sorry to hear about your daughter also.

I have searched and found some alternatives. I just would like to hear some opinions from people that used other services. Paypal was fine to me until i had to contact them and found that nobody is there to help.

Sorry, i forgot to add this information. I'm from Brazil and i work for companies in Canada, USA, Australia and Spain.

2checkout may be a good choice. I have used them for over 8 years now and have only had one issue with fraud. Most fraud is caught before anything is approved or funded.

We've been using 2checkout since 2003. Give them a try.

Hello,

Thank you for the responses. I am checking with 2checkout to find more about their fees and requirements ( if they can send money to Brazil ).

I have found this service: https://www.xoom.com/

Does anyone have experience with them?

Searching google gave me a few really good reviews.

Thanks again for everyone that replied :)

Yes, we used xoom.com too when paypal is not available in our country. They are good and reliable.

But now, we are using paypal directly so we stopped using them.

We have had a bad experience with 2Checkout, you might want to look into Google Checkout (not sure if they are accepted in Brazil...)

I wish there was a strong alternative to PayPal, but there really isn't. I hate the fee's and their customer service is horrible. Plus people charge back scam so much on their website and they do nothing to stop it. They protect the buyer but not the seller.

I have friends in the business of virtual goods and services for online video games (they make some pretty good money!), and they tell me all the time how people charge back scams them. Had it happen to myself as well when I quit a game and sold my stuff for over $800.00. The person opens a claim and said it was an "unauthorized transaction", then PayPal automatically removes the money from your account while they "investigate". And by investigate I mean there's a ticket open and you have to prove that the account owner was the one who actually bought the goods, which is impossible. The guy who did it to me did it to almost a dozen other people over the span of 3 months. That doesn't raise any alerts? The guy charges back, then buys more stuff and charges back, and continues doing it.

If it is ok to you, could you tell us why you are using Paypal instead of Xoom.com? Any particular reason?

I had my first experience with them: i submitted a ticket asking some questions about how to send money to Brazil and their fees. This questions was answered in 5 minutes and the person on the other side was extremely polite.

Maybe i'll go with them for the next payments, but i still have to solve the problem with Paypal.

Yesterday my boss, who sent the payment that was held, emailed Paypal with the Case ID asking if they need any docs from their side, confirmed that they want to send that money and that there was no fraud related to that transaction. He also did not got any response ( althought he sent it on weekend ).

I think Google Checkout is still limited to the US and UK for sellers. You may want to take a look at 2Checkout, WorldPay, and or MoneyBookers. Best of Luck!
