Has anyone had this problem? I open a paypal account using a joint account I had with my ex-boy friend. He was the main card holder. I later added my own debit card to the account and never used the old joint account because I was no longer with him. I never updated the information in paypal because I never did any transaction with that account anyway.

I received a email from PayPal stating my account is limited and they have 1200.00 that I can't withdrawal. The reason is that there is another PayPal account with a negitive balance that most be payed. I sent them all my varification information showing I never opened two accounts and don't understand way I have to pay for someone else's account. If someone can help please send email thanks.

I did and they said I have to pay them 800.00 to left the limit because there is another account that has the same credit card on there account with a negitive balance. I'm guessing it's my ex-boy friend. If that's the case why don't they send him an email making him pay why should I be responsible just because I forgot to remove a joint bank account from my profile that I'm no longer a card holder.

If your wife, husband or family member helped you by making you a joint on there bank account then they went on a shopping spree after you removed yourself from there bank account would you be responsible for there actions. I don't think so. So way must I pay for someone else's PayPal account becuase I once had a joint bank account with them. I'm not that person i no longer have anything to do with that person why am I being held responisble for there account. Has anyone every heard of this do I need to get legal help.

Call the bank or credit card that was funding the transactions and challenge the transactions. Also file a police report against your ex-bf. And while you're at it, make sure the next one is not a jack-ass :D

I think your misunderstanding me my ex-boyfriend opened an account with his bank account which at one piont was a joint bank account with me. He opened a PayPal account under his name with this bank account. I also opened a Paypal account with this bank account then after breaking up opened a new bank account and updated my PayPal proflie to eflect that. I never had access to his Paypal account. He had a negative balance on his PayPal account.

Paypal noticed that I had the same Bank account on my profile so they want me to pay off his balance. I don't have anything to do with that. If you had a joint bank account with you spouse and she open a Paypal account with it and you had a divorce would you be liable for her negitive balance.

It doesn't make sense to me.

Short answer: Yes, but a bf/gf is different than a spouse.
