View Full Version : Online chat Operators?? (who do you use and recommend?)
Acsiak - Andrew 11-04-2002, 02:43 PM I know that there have been some posts in the past, but was wondering what about the current DAY. Who do you guys use?
(I know a lot of people also use Trillian and GAIM, etc. etc. but I'm mainly interested for Online Chat Operator systems currently)
---- ( If poss, please give URL to the place as well; that is if you can remember ) ----
Thanks,
Brad @ Xiolink 11-04-2002, 03:27 PM Are you looking for passive or active? Meaning, do you want to put your chat name on your site and wait for people to contact you or do you want to be able to chat with people on your site?
For passive, Trillion is great because you can use AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, etc. all on one program.
For active, there are several. I would do a search on Google for Active Chat.
Good luck.
Acsiak - Andrew 11-04-2002, 05:29 PM Hi,
Thanks for that. I am currently really only interested in Online chat Operator (Active Chat) because I also currently give Passive (through Trillian). I have been looking at some ones that I thought seem nice:
ClickChatSold ( http://www.clickchatsold.com/ )
TurnKey Webtools ( http://www.turnkeywebtools.com/ )
phpLiveChat ( http://www.phplivechat.com/ )
PHPLive! ( http://www.phplivesupport.com/ )
PowerTalk ( http://www.powertalk.com/ )-(Only the CS version)
As there are rather a lot of them out on today's market (There are too many to choose from, from the Google search - crud thing about livin in France is I can only access Google.fr :bawling: - it returned thousands but too many to swade through since you have to read the descriptions and also try out some of the pages - could never do that for thousands :crap: - so really the google would take TOO long :( )
Does anyone also maybe some comments on those five listed? Also, I remember a thing called Kyako eSupport or something similar, had a really RED layout. URL anyone? (If they know?)
Any help would be much appreciated, also any active chat scripts you guys may know of that arent listed since there are hundreds. Willing to pay - but no more than $20 per month (cheaper yearly payments also fine)
Anyway, thanks guys.
PHP******** (http://www.php********.com/index.php)
offers a FREE limited/cut-down version as well as a full featured version for $79.95 one time fee.
I have not used the script though.
just done a search... no spam for that URL...
the only search result refers to an ISP with the words l i v e w i r e!
wlandman 11-05-2002, 01:19 AM We use PHPLiveHelp. We found it nice, easy to use, and cool. The only down side is that it queries the SQL database for a lot, but I guess all live systems do that.

It's kayako, www.kayako.com
I used it, it's pretty good
Andyc 11-05-2002, 11:47 AM I have to put my vote in for LiveResponse from www.kayako.com
Chattist
Special Offer
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86638
What exactly is Chattist?
Chattist is software program that allows your customers to chat with you in a real time environment. You simply insert a few simple lines of code into your website that displays a Click here for live help image and your clients will be able to chat with you. Please note that *you* as the operator of the call will have to download and install our operator console software that will allow you to operate and manage all incoming calls
Note the downloading of operator console software.
refcom 11-05-2002, 02:46 PM We wrote our own, took about three hours for three of us to totally code a system like "php Live!" from OSI Codes, basically we just spent an hour to research all of the systems out there and decided that it would be fun to implement our own. It's not a lot of work. They (OSI Codes) claim that their software is open-source --- but this is a totally false claim. However, they do have a great product/service and I'm not trying to slam them for not being totally truthful.
We don't use our system that often though, only when we do a marketing package where we expect to get a lot of visitors to the web site.

Thanks for that Zen- but I know the owner of it and personally wouldn't use that.
Well, thanks for the all the information and help people.
I've checked out a lot, and personally think Kayako seems the best (Nice and easy for both admin and clients, plus great pricing scheme).
Thanks fgauthier for that, Kayako really seems to do it tops :)
Cheers everyone,
Have you looked at Instant Helper - http://www.webumake.com/wih/index.htm ?
