I just registered today to let my comments be heard. Cool.. about the MySQL.. So your going to provide Linux+Apache serving soon too? Would I be able to get switched over when thats avalible? Honestly, other then the MySQL thing, datastreamusa has been great.. Mizu 11-04-2002, 06:17 PM Hmmm... how incredibly odd. When I was using my DataStreamUSA account back in late July, they had the same sort of service I'd expect from an unlimited bandwidth ISP. My account was set up within 24 hours, but nothing on it worked. I couldn't set up FTP accounts, log in to e-mail, and there were various bugs with the control panel... plus I couldn't find the path to Perl. So I went on to their site to use the ticket system, and all I got was an error when I submitted my complaint. I then manually sent an e-mail to the support address listed on the site, and waited. And waited. And waited. It was around a week and a half later that I got a reply back, saying that they had reset my e-mail password, and that I would be able to log in. They didn't reply to any of my other problems. (I was able to log in to e-mail after, though.) So I sent them another e-mail, that requested the path to Perl and a solution to the FTP problem. This time it only took 5 days, and the reply simply read that I wouldn't be able to run CGI on a WinNT server. Yes, nevermind the fact that it's advertised on their website... :cartman: At that point I just gave up, and figured spending $5 more on a quality host was a much better decision... so I sent a very polite cancellation request. Two weeks went by, and still no answer. By this time I was already out of patience, so I just sent a chargeback threat to the same address... and miraculously got a reply the next morning stating that my account was cancelled. Anyway, the moral of the story is "you get what you pay for". Spend a few dollars extra a month to get a decent host that won't have you tearing your hair out. :D HighLineHost 11-05-2002, 12:36 AM Wow I am very sorry to hear that. This is the first time I have heard about this problem. If you ever need another host, please feel free to drop me an email, I will give you a few free months because for your problems you had with us. Please let me know if you need anything at all... ChickenSteak 11-05-2002, 12:54 AM Originally posted by UH-Matt No experience with them but the site seems to load quickly and the prices are competative, Always remember: "you get what you pay for" :) Lol, you need some sleep :). $7.95/mo for 300mb space and 20gb bw???!:D  :stickout: :) :cartman: HighLineHost 11-05-2002, 12:58 AM Chickenstreak, I hope 7.95/mo 300Mb and 20 Gig was good hehe ...... ChickenSteak 11-05-2002, 01:01 AM Hmm I think I know you.. from somewhere... hmmm anyways back on topic. You should either do one of two things a.) reduce bandwidth b.) Raise prices. $7.95/mo for 300mb space and 20gb's bandwidth is pretty cheap. HighLineHost 11-05-2002, 02:34 AM hehe, we are not resellers, so we own the bandwidth :) . silversurfer 11-05-2002, 02:18 PM what a waste. I was about to sign up till I see them mysql with "soon" in red  :( :( :( :( :( oh well... guess I have to go elsewhere.. can't wait dazman09 11-05-2002, 05:08 PM yea, that MySQL thing is a killer.... MegaNetServe 12-16-2002, 12:43 AM Do any of you have any updated info on this company. Looks like a good palce to host ASP sites... Prices are cheap! Like to know WHT Member experineces... Thanks in advance. phantasywork 12-16-2002, 01:12 AM not trying to rain on anyones parade , but last I knew this company was up for sale , unless that's changed? http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=95236 hellind 12-19-2002, 01:59 AM Hello, I had signup with this host for a yr now. Initially I signed up for unlimited account for 5$, they have cancelled that account and moved me to 300mb plan and raised to 7$. I should have left but found their servers meet my requirements. Their servers fast, support good in asian standards. I get my questions answered by email within a day. Live support isn't necessary for my site, though there is live chat available. 300mb 20gb bw usage for 7.95$, i dont' know if there is a better deal out there. but it's far far better than my last host featureprice.com and hostonce.com. www.tangraonline.com >>>> my site HighLineHost 03-17-2003, 08:45 AM Hey all, I know this is a old post, but we now have mySQL running on Red Hat 7.3.x. there was a bunch of you looking for it, so I figured to would reply to this post :) See you all soon...! |
