It is awsome) http://cpanelthemes.com/fantastico.php Darth 11-04-2002, 10:00 AM Sweet, it's been upgraded (again  ) Jim_UK 11-04-2002, 01:03 PM There's another available from cpskins.com... and very nice it is too :) phantasywork 11-04-2002, 02:34 PM I prefer the one from cpskins.com ..it's much better I think than fantastico ;) mpope 11-04-2002, 04:37 PM The cpskins.com one has more scripts too! And I like how it interfaces well with the bluetrix theme (obviously, because bluetrix is made by cpskins as well) kosmo 11-04-2002, 08:35 PM Darth: It will be updated this week too, this makes it better ;) Jim_UK, phantasywork, mpope: This is not a nice discussion but the "auto-installer" offered by cpskins.com is an illegal Fantastico rip-off (as far as I know, it is no more offered because Williams doesn't like legal trouble): Original Fantastico code with some scripts added (as it is really easy to do). If you prefer original ideas, buy Fantastico. If you want to support illegal actions, buy cpskins' "auto-installer". kosmo PS for people who have read Williams' postings about wanting to "clear this" and this being a "misunderstanding": The way to his mailbox (or back) seems to be hidden or full of really heavy stones. Or emails just find no way back in a very mysterious way ;) NodeHost 11-04-2002, 09:06 PM One thing that would be really great that is not included in the regular Fantastico (which we bought) is the PerlDesk software. I would like to see this included soon.... Wow, thats certainly surprised me  I admit, I haven't searched the forums before for info on this (didn't think I had reason to) but I just have done and it provides interesting reading. I had no knowledge of the issues going on here at all. reseller 11-04-2002, 09:37 PM One thing I'd love to see in Fantastico is an automated update facility ;) All the scripts install automatically but updates are a manual process. Not a major issue, just a "it would be nice" thing :) Great product phantasywork 11-05-2002, 02:35 AM Originally posted by Jim_UK Wow, thats certainly surprised me  I admit, I haven't searched the forums before for info on this (didn't think I had reason to) but I just have done and it provides interesting reading. I know it is a bit work to update, but update needs root access and it is not easy to implement. Will check if and how it is possible. kosmo Ronaldo 05-10-2003, 12:05 AM     Is there a lawyer in da house??? I just bought a Ded server and am looking to put in auto-install scripts. Fantastico or Cpskins Is there a lawyer in the house who will barter for hosting??? UNLIMITED bandwidth :D kosmo 05-10-2003, 01:56 AM Originally posted by Ronaldo I just bought a Ded server and am looking to put in auto-install scripts. Fantastico or Cpskins If you find cpskins offering an auto-installer, let me know :D I would like to see if william offers original code or if he still sells my code. kosmo Geek3 05-10-2003, 10:09 AM Wait for cpskins.com Alternative In case you haven't heard, cpskins has developed a script that is cheaper, faster and more options to select from than the Fantastico script. Not to mention, it's programmed in a completely different language (perl instead of php) and has the option to UPGRADE current installations of installed scripts. OH, and did I mention that it automatically works on current skins (BUILT IN FUNCTIONALITY) unlike Fantastico where you have to provide a link or edit code yourself (host wise). As for us, we will soon be fading out fantastico for this new cpskins version. Just thought we'd give our $0.02. :D tandem 05-10-2003, 11:54 AM Erik, notwithstanding your announcement about a currently non-existent product, you obviously condone cpskins ripping their auto installer (i.e. stealing and modifying the code) from the original fantastico scripts. I couldn't see your comment about this. Angel78 05-10-2003, 12:31 PM :homer: mmmMMmmm I smell a flame thread, were's my popcornnnn tandem 05-10-2003, 12:48 PM Erik seems to be trying hard to advertize a competing product (which is yet non-existent and based on rumor) while degrading Fantastico at every turn in his post. So I simply thought it might be an idea to ask him about what he thinks of the ripping of the original scripts by cpskins.com. But get those popcorns any way... you never know, you might need them. :D kosmo 05-10-2003, 01:38 PM I *love* this community, it makes my day :D. I have much more in my mailbox but this one is webhostingtalk privatemessageid=104057, so moderators may check its truthfulness: Sender is igy, alias cpskins.com, date is Aug 28, 2002: It went okay for that one week I put the add out there. I made like 4 sales so i owe you some money. Ask the creator of the above advertised original software, how much of the money owed for selling Fantastico he already paid. If it was more than 0 $, I will buy a beer to everyone reading this thread. That one looks familiarly like your coolbreeze theme on the inside, but with a slightly modified front page menu. I don't know what you mean by "Advance theme". I know the "Advanced" which is original supplied by the CPanel creators and has nothing to do with my themes. However, cpskins.com not only ripped off Fantastico, they were also too stupid to rip off "coolbreeze & co" in some clean way, for example by changing the css class names. Below is a sim skin code extract from their official demo site (http://www.cpskins.com:2082/frontend/demo/redsimdemo/index.html, user: demo/pass: demo). Compare to the coolbreeze class names (http://demo1.cpanelthemes.com:2082/frontend/coolbreeze/index.html, user: demo1 / pass: demo1) <table width="226" class="LeftTable" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="3" class="MainMenu" width="220"><b>General Account Information</b></td> </tr> <tr class="SubMenu" valign="top"> <td colspan="3" width="220"> Account Information</td> </tr> <tr class="Infoline" valign="top"> These are class names I used since september 2001. How old exactly are the sim skins? In case they manage to change their stylesheet names soon, their customers may confirm the names currently in use. Herewith I officially invite all cpskins.com customers who purchased the sim skins or the autoinstaller from cpskins.com to cancel the transaction (you can do it even months later, contact your credit card issuer). This was an illegal transaction, you bought stolen property and you owe cpskins.com nothing as cpskins.com was not the legal owner and was not entitled to transfer any license rights. If cpskins.com believes that this is a slander, they are welcome to bring an action against me: Ilias Moisidis Komninon 3 54624 Thessaloniki Greece I will appear in front of any north american court. This one is called advance theme, and you can see it in action at http://www.demodemo.com/tutorials_cpanel_advance.html... you may get a surprise. > But where is my popcorn? So you obviously know which one of your customers has modified it. When you put "cpanel advance" in google.com you get about 150 unique links. kosmo 05-10-2003, 03:31 PM Yes, everything OK. This is a NOC. kosmo igy 05-10-2003, 08:10 PM Kosmo, it is nice that you are posting this information. I think you will enjoy the perl version i have coming out. I did nothing wrong except using standard php code with the current one. Okay yes the ones you posted up there i owe you money for and I have told you to send me how much I owe you according to are agreement we had at one point. Do you remember that day, I sent you an email with the list and you said you would look at it and tell me the next day how much i have to give you. The next day came and i asked you again how much I owe you and still you didn't forward me an email. So i tried to clear this matter up. I moved on and developed my own system long time ago which isn't illegal. But now its time for V2 and it is coming out to the public soon. Once it is out you won't be able to slam my company anymore. And to tell you the truth I would love to solve this. My email is admin@cpskins.com, and my icq is 52579303. ADDED: and on the point of sim skins, you make me laugh. Advanced theme looks like yours but my sim skins doesn't. Look at the sub pages they don't look anything alike, and the main page might be similar by chance but thats it. Bluetrix uses the exact same code and the same layout but fancy. And to tell you the truth BlueCP has pretty much the same structure. So i guess you think they are all illegal. Anyways Kosmo all i have waited for is that return email. Lets talk and give me your paypal email and it will be over with. NOTHING CPSkins.com sells is illgal. thanks Esr Tek 05-10-2003, 08:33 PM Kosomo -- Understandably your upset at what happened. However you can not go around slandering him like this... Your professionalism has made me reconsider purchasing your product. A little professionalism goes a long way when it comes to running a business :eek3: igy 05-10-2003, 08:39 PM Also I would like to thank Erik for his comments. He can make those comments because he has seen the new autoinstaller. Also everything he said is true. It will integrate into EVERY skin without doing a thing, even XSkin and all those. And yes it will have more scripts and be less money but that isn't important. Anyways, I am looking forward to the email so this will stop and we all can move on to more important things. P.S - I will post the Paypal transaction when this is done to show i do take care of things. All i have ever waiting for is a return email. Thanks tandem 05-10-2003, 09:39 PM William, the fact remains that you stole the Fantastico code for commercial gain, you included it in your product as an added value (which would naturally help you sell more copies of the skin you were marketing) and promoted it as if it's yours. Not only that... did you ask author John's permission before you included PerlDesk as an auto-installable script? Somehow I doubt it! What would Google.com (where you currently advertise) think about you if they knew about all this dupery? igy 05-10-2003, 09:50 PM Well really you would have to understand it from the start to understand that. I am sorry we really don't need to get more into it. Me and Kosmot will take care of it. With perldesk i have talked to john and it has been removed simple as that. If for some reason google decided to email us about this, we will explain the whole story to them. I am sorry you all had to get into this. I don't feel the whole story needs to be out there. Me and Kosmo will take care of this within the next few days. Thanks tandem 05-10-2003, 10:21 PM You and Erik seem to be making a lot of noise about the perl auto-installer (which is yet non-existent). Will that include every single feature that the new version of Fantastico has got as detailed here --> http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=136038? kosmo 05-11-2003, 12:16 AM Igy, again and for last time: I contacted you many times about this and nothing happened. You promised many times on WHT to clear this and nothing happened. My emails stayed unanswered. You play nice guyr but you main point is "I don't feel the whole story needs to be out there". Why not? If you don't have interest to solve this privately, then I am making it public. BabySim etc: You don't explain how my css style names appear in your code. Just say how. Esr Tek: Ask about my professionalism at my forums. If you work all day and in the evening someone else gets the money, you will be upset too. kosmo (still waiting for the popcorn) kosmo 05-11-2003, 02:51 AM IMPORTANT UPDATE Igy of cpskins.com has just paid the license fees for all autoinstaller copies sold by cpskins.com until and including September 18th 2002. If Igy wishes, I will post a separate thread to get more attention. Thanks to all who sent me emails supporting me. kosmo Edit: Having said this, my invitation to cancel transactions for this product for the given time is no more valid as you now own a legally licensed product. anon-e-mouse 05-11-2003, 03:00 AM Not sure why a six month old thread was dredged up, but it is closed now. |
