I have to say I don't like it, I am kicking myself in the butt for upgrading it. But I always thought with whmcs you better do the upgrades as there are security fixes and such. I guess this here was just a new one in that series and 3.82 was the latest stable version.

But yeah I don't like it, I see some new helpful features but I don't like the layout, it is totally different. No longer is your menu of helpful items in the left column, you have to go to it manually using the drop down menus. Things like the unpaid invoices, overdue invoices, pending orders, support tickets, etc. I liked it when those were in that menu to the left. Then you could log right in, see your revenue, stats, etc and click whatever you needed from that menu. Now Id have to say it takes a lil longer to get where you wanna go.

Has anyone else upgraded? What do you think about it?

You do know that you can change the admin skin back to the version 3 one, don't you?

I looked for that option in the settings but only could see default or portal. How do you do it?

EDIT: And oh yeah I guess I should have just made my major complaint about why i don't like it because the skin because when I just thought about it, that is the only problem so far :)

EDIT2: nvm I just found it :) http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=20013&highlight=revert

In the admin panel go to "My Account" (top left) and then change the template to "Original". =)

Their some new features such as multi-currency support are great. But their new design is really unprofessional and worse than all of other billing softwares.

Hate the new design. It feels really bloated and is a nightmare on a netbook. Needless to say I'm using the old skin still.

I like it. I have had both the front end and back end of WHMCS integrated into my web design by Payton Designs and it looks amazing! Plus, I don't think I have come across any major bugs so far.

Thanks! The work I do with the Administration Panel is definitely done to simplify it and make it more attractive.

I don't like the new admin skin, and i've reverted to the original one.

However, I love the multi-currency function and it's been a huge step up for us. :)

I prefer the new client area design, IMO it looks nicer than the old one.

I wasn't really looking forward to the design updates with this recent release. I have noticed some issues with the admin area with the design and to be honest its not very attractive. I like that you we can finally modify the admin area. I think that it would of also been smarter to leave the original portal design (client area) and added the new client portal theme as just another theme. I guess WHMCS would rather just simply things and leave it to just two themes.

My favorite thing in WHMCS v4.0 is the fact you can finally invoice users from the ticket area!

Agreed. The new default front-end is a lot more professional. :)

I prefer the new admin skin, I also find it much easier to find things.

Ticket System is vastly improved.

I like the new ticketing system as you can see more information about the user that I had to search for otherwise. I would like to see also the server on which the client is on in that info panel, though.

The main admin area is less informative than the previous one and I think there should be a compromise. It seemed like I had a lot more information at a quick glance from the previous admin screen than I do now.

We've found V4 to be a big improvement. I think that the new skins (admin and client) are an improvement and look much nicer.. but each to his own :P

I think the new WHMCS is great on multiple levels. The new admin skin is nice, but the new portal style finally looks professional. Two thumbs up from me.

The new WHMCS has made HUGE improvements to the interface. I've found the only ones who do not like it are usually the ones who believe in the "if its not broken, don't fix it". Sure the old interface wasn't broken, but the improvements made in 4.0 are amazing and simply take osme getting use to.

I am largely impressed with V4 - The main page should still have open tickets (should be the priority of all web hosts) but that is my only gripe. I see nothing wrong with the design at all, I personally think it looks very attractive.

I actually like it :) I did have some minor hiccups in the beginning of using 4, but they're all taken care of and everything is working smoothly right now.

I Love it, but I have one small beef. The Admin dropdown does not work too well on smaller screens. Gets cut off

Since I changed the admin interface back to the old one I like it, it has what seems like a lot more useful features. WHMCS is just a great billing system overall. Now I will admit I still do not like the new admin skin but since Im able to use the old one I'm very happy.

ON another note, haven't you all noticed how fast WHMCS has grew? I remember it was kinda small name there at first. Modernbill and Kayakp were still the most popular. Now WHMCS has totally surpassed them as being the most used hosting billing software. Almost everyone I know uses it, nearly every host I see uses it, its became really popular.

Lets just hope he keeps very vigilant on keeping the code secure so we all dont get hacked one day :)

Now WHMCS has totally surpassed them as being the most used hosting billing software.

May I ask what factual data on which you are making this claim? Otherwise, it's just your opinion.

Personally, I think that there are still a *lot* of modernbill users still around. Many of them simply don't participate in these forums, since there actually is a whole world of web hosting that doesn't come here...

Also, there are several other billing applications that have a very large customer base... www.awbs.com being one of them.

I highly doubt any software vendor is going to publicly post their customer usage stats.. and having a claim of "used by thousands of hosts" is nothing more then unsubstantiated marketing BS.

Just because whmcs is the billing system flavour at the moment does not mean they are the largest or most popular with ALL web hosting providers. It simply means they are popular here at webhostingtalk.com, which is actualy a pretty small representation of a very very large market.
