Rather than hijack the thread below ( http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=862698 ), I opted to start a thread to ask: what collections agencies do web hosts around here use?

We are looking for one to take on some cPanel shared hosting accounts (anywhere from $20-$50) that have gone overdue and remained unpaid for 2-3 months.

Also, what is the difference from "factoring agencies" I keep hearing about.

Regards!

While I am not sure about that factoring agencies question, we use https://www.directdebtcollections.com/ and are very happy with them :)

Essentially, we are looking for someone who will buy the invoices off us and collect them.

I thought a factoring agency pays a percentage and does the same thing, or am I wrong?

I've yet to find one that will do it for low-value invoices unless you have a significant amount of volume. There simply isn't the margin normally for them to make a decent profit on it.

That said, I too would suggest http://www.directdebtcollections.com/

Well we got about $500 in possible collections invoices right now. Probably not much, but certainly enough to be a nice bit of pocket change for us :)

Check http://www.therecoverynetworks.com

They are really great for hosting companies. I have used them for a few months now, mainly for accounts where a customer said he/she would pay later, but then disappeared.

They have very good recovery rates, and are generally courteous in how they collect, so as not to create ill will towards your company.
