Is any one having Cpanel email lockup problems?

After the Cpanel email upgrade about three months ago I have had 5 emails that have locked up my computer. It is not just outlook. It also happens with netscape email as well. The only thing I can do is see what email that is locking it up and go in to the web mail and delete it.

This is not a big deal but if you have 10 to 15 email accounts it is hard to see what email and what email account is having the problem.

Also resetting a windows 2000 computer is not a good thing! My hard drive is felling the pain.

What do you mean by "lockup"?

The email program outlook or netscape takes 100% system CPU. Some times you can Ctrl -Alt - Del and pick restart but that takes you 10 mins. Most of the time you can not get to that point and you are forced to reset the computer.

This is not the server buy my home computer that is downloading the email. I have other customers having the same problem and the problem is on all of our Cpanel servers.


This only started after the email upgrade cpanel did.

I aggree Cpanel 5 is good but this email problem is getting to be a big problem.

Rebooting 2000 is hard on the hard drive!

I have this happen when the email message is a extremely large text message. I was getting daily emails of some of my log files. They were sent as text in the email and were totaling over 20 MB some days. Outlook would go to not responding and I would have to end task, and sometimes reboot. Don't know if this is your problem, but I would look at the size of the emails that are locking up you system.

Thanks... I had the same problem with the log files as well but you can end task with that one. It does not lock up the computer like the other problem I am seeing.

I have seen the subject line have something in it that locks up the system. The email is not large at all. It is just that exim had a problem writing it.

maybe start using CPanel's IMAP feature?
